Still scared ****less every time a team attacks us, I have so little faith in our defence and I don't know if that's because of the coaching or the play staff.

So according to the media after this weekend we're 'back in it for the CL places'

Arsenal play Swansea at homemid-week.
Our next game is Liverpool away on Sunday.

Yeah, right in it aren't we

If Sherwood can get us five or six wins out of the last seven games, there's an argument to be made for him staying. If not, then please bring in a disciplinarian who's won all there is to be won as early as possible this summer. Rafa (if he's available, he's my top choice), LvG, or A.N.Other, it doesn't matter as long as the coach is given the time he needs to start molding the team he wants from back to front. And please, Daniel, if the new manager (Sherwood or someone else) wants a particular player particularly badly, don't be stingy and buy him a second-grade substitute. If Rafa wants Insigne, make it priority numbers one, two and three to get him. If LvG wants to bring Daley Blind in with him, provide him with the funds to do so, no questions asked. If Tim, bless his soul, wants Clyne or Lallana or someone similar, spare no efforts.

A painful lesson was dished out to us with our failure to sign Moutinho last year. Hopefully we've learnt that lesson well.

Any manager should win 6 of our last 7 games. They are all against ****e teams after Liverpool.

Whilst we're mathematically in it, then we're in it. Who knows what those games could bring up? Yes, it's highly likely that Arsenal will beat Swansea and that we'll lose against Liverpool but... I'm sure Arsenal fans thought that we would beat Norwich and we didn't. If Bony has a good game against Arsenal, perhaps Swansea could take a point. If we attack Liverpool, we're likely to score. Liverpool have looked just as vulnerable defensively as us at times, after all they conceded 3 against Cardiff!!

I think that it's extremely unlikely that we can finish top 4 but I can understand why our chances haven't been written off just yet.

I'd disagree that 'any manager' should do that. The manager has to get the players motivated for what could very well be dead rubber games. That's not the easiest of tasks.

Also, this is football. It's not as simple as saying you should win those six games, if the opposition choose the right tactics, or they simply have one of those days where everything simply clicks you can't always win it.

Scara and Gutter, would you accept Rafa Benitez as our new boss in the summer??? actually I throw it out to everybody. It seems his name is being constantly mentioned now as a possibility. Im not sure tbh, although the fat waiter version at Chelski was a lot more humble and likeable than the arrogant know it all one at Liverpool

I would be happy with that. A year or so ago probably not tbh as I don't overly like him and found him quite boring at Liverpool but I think he has mellowed and with our players he would probably attempt to play with an attacking edge like he did at Chelsea.

I kind of warmed to Benitez after the bile he received from Chelsea fans even though he did very well with them and had them playing some nice stuff. The fact he has a lot of PL experience is a bonus and he's won trophies, plus he knows how to get teams playing solid from back to front, we'd be a hell of a lot more organised for starters.

I would take him, but I dont see it happening. Napoli have all but signed Javier Mascherano for next season, so it looks like Rafa has already started signing players for next season

Six more wins, and we will have 74 points. Best ever points total for us in the PL. After this shambles of a season that would be absolutely insane!

And, of course, it would likely be us setting another record for points total witout getting CL football. ](*,)

Don't think we'll win six more games though.

I would certainly take Rafa over Timmeh - in a heartbeat. **** it, I'd even contribute to his salary myself.

Over the alternatives? I'd be a little disappointed - I wasn't keen on his style of football at Liverpool and we'd have to do his purchasing for him, but he's still a lot better than many alternatives.

I've always seen Benitez as a proper football man who fights hard for his clubs. Never disliked him the way others do.

Not sure I want him at Spurs though. Really don't know. And I am slowly coming around to the idea of letting someone else have a go...

Must be looking at a different fixture list to me then. Those 6 teams have:

2 wins and 2 draws vs Chelsea
1 win vs City
1 win vs Arsenal
2 draws vs Liverpool
2 wins and 1 draw vs Man Utd
...........and a 3-0 beating of us.

perhaps you'd like to re-evaluate the word sh!te.

Would probably paint the same picture as the league table does — with only 13 points separating 10th from 20th, I'd say it accurately reflects the broad lack of quality in this season's competition outside the top few.

He signed a lot of players, and a lot of dross, but overall I'd say he did very, very well.

Alonso, Reina, Mascherano and Torres were all outstanding signings. These players became world stars under his guidance.

Agger, Garcia, Bellamy, Arbeloa, Lucas, Skrtl, Kuyt and Johnson were all good signings.

I agree that the first group were excellent signings have to disagree with the second group though.

Didn't he also sell Alonso?

Agger, Lucas, Kuyt , Garcia, Skrtel and Arbeloa were certainly good signings. Bellamy is a v.good player but didn't really work out and Johnson is also good but not 18m good.
