Moyes wasn't at united long enough to do anything, he took Everton from a side fighting relegation every year to one challenging for a CL place

Mclaren has won a league title in holland with a minnow and kept boro punching way above their weight for a long time, he's turned derby completely around in half a season and managed to get one of the worst groups of England players ever on the verge of qualifying for a tournament they had no place being anywhere near

I think they are both safer bets than the likes of FdB or Pochettino

Benitez would be my choice but I fear that may be unrealistic

Have to disagree with your assessment of Moyes. He took a lower to mid table team and turned them into a higher to mid table team who the odd time were in with a shout of CL.

So Poch is being interviewed tomorrow, but FdB is in Indonesia until the 17th (interview Sun 18th at the earliest).

I'm still worried Wenger will walk next weekend and Arsenal will have first pick of the two.

Poch is being interviewed tomorrow? Your quote on the prev page I assumed was referring to having talks with the Soton board?

"I want to say that I still have one more year on my contract," he said. (Pochettino)

"It is only normal that these rumours will start cropping up. We know the rules with how these things happen in England.

"Tomorrow we will sit down and we will talk. This is the end of a five-year project, we have achieved what we wanted from this project and now a new project has to start.

"I have said that this club now deserves to be in a new project, the board has to decide how that happens, two years, three years or four years - I just want to sit down and talk and we will see what happens."

Looks like he'll be having talks with Southampton execs tomorrow.

We have to go down the experienced route IMO - that's why (as much as it's not glamorous and exciting) Rafa is my preference.

can anyone tell me what this Poch has done to warrent him being our Manager?

It has been explained on here in a few posts. The guy has pedigree from when he was at Espanyol. Wasn't perfect but good. Also he has taken Southampton to a top half finish with a squad of players that isn't anywhere near ours.

Beyond that he has his team playing nice football with a plan. No different to Martinez and Rodgers before they got their big shots.

He deserves this chance IMHO. And we need someone like him. He hasn't spouted off to the media. Looks the part. Ticks boxes.

Most importantly is that he might play Lamela ;-)

I want him because I like the kind of football he has instilled at Southampton. Attacking, non boring football, and he has got them to close down the opposition with a high pressing game. I think like Martinez with a better squad he can get a team to play even better football.

It will be interesting to find out what Levy's opinion on the matter is.

All that too

I wouldnt mind Poch, but I don't think he's exactly had Southampton punching above their weight - with the talented players at their disposal outside the top 7 Id expect them to be near the best of the rest....

Well he seems to advocate a 'project', I'm sure that will get Levy's juices flowing....

But these amazing players you are talking about...nobody was talking about them like that before Pochettino took over there. Lallana, Rodriguez and Lambert weren't nailed on England squad members, Clyne wasn't being linked to Man Utd. He's made those players look as good as they have done and i don't think they'd look as good in a different team
