Don't think FdB's availability will have that much impact on our choice, he seems to have talked himself out of the job.

Imagine sacking Tim hours after tomorrows game, then introducing the new guy at half time during Ledley's match. The whole atmosphere at the club would be transformed in an instant.

Like you I am a it concerned, teams seem to be getting their business done quickly: Schmidt to Leverkusen, looks like Tuchel to Schalke, van Gaal off the market.

If these Wenger to Wolfsburg rumours have legs we could end up totally screwed.

I don't want anything to overshadow Ledley's big day. Celebrating him is much bigger than this whole mess. I can wait till Tuesday.

Why would we end up screwed? We have more than one target, all we know is that Levy would like to interview FDB but he's not the only candidate....

We've already lost the #1 name on our list. The longer we delay, the sloppier the seconds get.

Well, Wenger won't go before the FA cup final takes place, so that gives us a whole week to get things sorted. The problem is that FDB is on a tour with Ajax and apparently won't be back for talks until after the FA cup final, by which time there may have been contact between him and Arsenal (that is if Wenger is off). No doubt Poch will have an interview and then be left hanging around for a week until we have spoken to the others.

But my point is you have no idea who are main target is. Seems like LVG was the outstanding one, but after that FDB,Poch, even Martinez have been mooted. You don't know where FDB is on that list...

I'll try and explain it as concisely as I can. You are correct, I don't know who our number 1 choice is.

Lets imagine managers 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 are on the market and realistic targets.

If managers 1,2,3,4,5 all sign for new clubs then only managers 6 and 7 remain on the market.

The chances are managers 6 and 7 have less desirable qualities than managers 1,2,3,4 and 5 as they are ones who were possibly interviewed and then NOT hired by other teams.

Do you understand the point?

I'm generally a fairly optimistic chap but I too feel that all the good candidates will be be taken by the time we get our finger out. Maybe the club have something sown up behind the scenes, I hope they do, but I'm not very confident of that.

Poch? He's ok, nothing amazing IMO. He doesn't strike me as the man to lead us to the next level. In fact based on nothing but gut instinct I think he will fail badly like many before him and we'll be back in the market again in 18 months. FDB will rock up at Arsenal and things will go swimmingly well and we'll all scratch out heads and wonder how we managed to back the wrong horse again. FDB might also fail miserably if he comes to Spurs but I just think it's a good fit for the club and I get a better feeling about that appointment. I hope LVG is left with no job holding his balls in his hands when the merry-go-round stops (unless of course he wants to come to Spurs and then ..welcome Mr. Van Gaal)

We can't appoint until we get rid of Sherwood, assuming Levy does that [-o< then they can openly appoint the next victim manager.

We can't offcially appoint anyone until we get rid of Sherwood, which is why I hope the two baldy's have a devious masterplan that they've been working on for months just about to hatch....mmmuuhhahahahaha.

Was never going to happen anyway, but it looks like my dark horse is out of the running.

Seems slike Thomas Tuchel is going to take over at Schalke 04 in the Summer. Be interesting to see how he does. I personally think he he'll be a major hit.

Other rumours are Wenger to Wolfsburg and Armin Veh to Stuttgart. FdB to Arsenal?

I bet there is loads of movement again this Summer and we end up with Pochettino, who will bomb, get sacked, and we'll have missed out on all the best bets in a manager merry go round again. We already missed the boat with PL managers, now we're going to miss out on the most promising from Europe as well

I've asked this before, if you answered and I missed it then my bad.

What is it that makes Tuchel such a promising prospect to you whilst you don't like Poch? If we're looking at this objectively, what has Tuchel managed to prove?

We didn't lose the #1 name on our list by delaying though. He just went to a bigger club (assuming it's done). We even tried in December/January by the reports, but he wouldn't sign for us at that time. How much earlier could we have tried?

No reason to think that we are or will be delaying, as shown by the comments from FdB.

The point is perfectly understandable, but what do you want the club to do about it?

If targets 1-5 chose other clubs ahead of us then in the end they weren't gettable. If we waited until July and lost out on someone we could have gotten then we would obviously have made a mistake, but there's no reason to think that we will wait. FdB as an example knows that he's highly rated, so he waits until all potential offers are on the table. Weren't there even reports that we approached him in December/January? We can't force him to make a decision today.

Most managers, including FdB, Poch, van Gaal and now Martinez have seemed rather clear on waiting until after the season before entering talks.

If Wenger leaves and FdB is offered the job at the scum then reality is that we never had a chance of getting him. Nothing to do with getting our finger out.

I think Wenger will stay.

If he isn't and FDB is seriously their number 1 target, we are already out of the running.

People will of course blame this on Levy, just as they blamed LVG on Levy. If only he'd approached him in January and offered him a 5 year contract! Managers aren't idiots and they don't live in a bubble. They are as aware (most likely far far more aware ) of the news within football. LVG must have known the Man Utd job was a possibility when we approached him in December and a manager of his stature will have known that he could keep us waiting.

I have never rushed big decisions like moving country or changing jobs and I assume most top level managers are the same.

I do agree that in a ****ing contest with Arsenal we will always loose, don't we always, but I hope that considering our need that we may have stolen a march on our rivals. I would think most managers say they are waiting till the season end but I'd be frankly astounded if there hasn't been some sort of dialogue behind the scenes for some time now.

I'm thinking Pep might be Arsenal's numero uno target if he becomes available, followed by FDB unfortunately. And will Wenger stay regardless, who knows? Actually I can't decide if Arsenal winning the FA cup will accelerate his exit or delay it.
