Mourinho's Chelsea team was boring because once they got to 1-0 up, it was almost impossible to break them down. So the games weren't 'exciting' as such because they weren't end to end, there was no real prospect of the opposing team coming back into it.

They played good football though, especially when they had the likes of Cole, Duff and Robben in the team.

Agree. Never really understood the 'boring' label applied to Mourinho's sides. Ruthlessly efficient, yes; meticulously organised, certainly; cynical, without doubt; but boring? Used to really enjoy watching his Porto team, and probably would have enjoyed watching Chelsea, were it not for the fact that it was Chelsea.

After Brendan Rodgers, Moyes is the current favourite to be the next Spurs manager (and was the actual favourite until the recent hype around Rodgers, I believe). I think it's a valid topic of discussion, on that basis. I was surprised there wasn't already a thread on him.

Just a massive thread on hypothetically who will be the next spurs manager where Moyes has been discussed to death

Mourinhos teams score more goals because he always has world class players, not because he plays good football

I'm pretty sure there was some gooner **** who tried to argue on this board this season that the Arsenal under George Graham weren't boring because they scored more goals than any other team that season.

He's got the 2nd best team in the world, and yet in his mind, the only way to beat Barca is to kick lumps out of them on the pitch rather than utilise the talents of Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema and co. He'd rather use Pepe to tread on people's hands, kick every Barca player in sight, and do whatever is necessary to get the opponent sent off.

People who think Mourinho is coming to Spurs are living in a fantasyland. The two most realistic options are Moyes and Rodgers.

I'm hedging my best on Terry Connor.

Should be available.

Come on Marky, it was inevitable that this thread would pop up sooner or later, I'm surprised it didn't pop up sooner to be honest :)

Moyes is up there along with a bunch of managers like Rodgers that are very close in my opinion after the probably unobtainable Mourinho. Many good reasons why he would be good for us, but also several good reasons to question if he's the right man for the job. Like with the rest of that bunch of managers that aren't Mourinho.

I think Moyes would do well at Spurs. The job he's done at Everton on his budget has to be up there with the likes of Ferguson and Wenger in terms of output. Of course none of his teams have won a trophy, but he's got a lot out of that club when the backing has been very poor. Compare that to the likes of Martin O' Neil and Benitez who ad brick loads to spend at their respective clubs.

Everton play the way they do because they're underdogs on a tight budget. Do you think Bill Kenwright cares how they win? Of course not - that's why whenever we play them they try to stifle us, the one thing we don't like. Should Moyes come to Spurs then he would have more funds available to him, and an already cohesive attacking team. Those who think that he'll turn us into cloggers who likes to hoof it upfield are having a laugh. Tbh in games other than the top sides Everton have a decent brand of football. Nothing special, but they're hardly like Stoke, Bolton, Blackburn or Wolves! He may have been at Everton for a long time, but he's still quite young for a manager - and let's not forget that Ferguson had 8 years at Aberdeen before leaving for Man United.

Mourinho has already tried playing Barcelona utilising the talents of Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema and co. The clear second best team in the world got trounced 5-0.

The way he has played them since then has often been cynical, petulant and violent. And, hilariously for me anyway, they still lose more often than not. However, he has recently come very close on multiple occassions to beating Barcelona while dominating them about as much as anyone can dominate this Barcelona team. Unfortunately for him, they keep on coming up against this little stumbling block called Lionel Messi, who has directly contributed to 87 of Barcelona's 165 goals this season and indirectly contributed to a lot more.

There are a lot of things you can criticise Mourinho for but the way he has had to set out to face possibly the best side ever is not one of them. I fully hope he comes up short again in the upcoming clasico too.

Also worth mentioning that Barcelona can be just as pathetic in their cheating in those games as well.

Trouble is his team are also bottle jobs, every time they have a big game like a derby, later round cup matches they generally flop. Plus they only get going in January.

I'd rather suck lemons.

I'd die a little inside

I'd rather shave my balls with a bic razor

.....

I think I'd prefer Martinez than Moyes

I think Moyes is tactically quite astute but it strikes me as a safe rather than ambitious choice. So yes like others I think I would die a little inside.
