Manager Sack Watch

I'm gutted. Palace are my second team (nearest to where I grew up, first team I saw live). I hated Pardew being their manager, but Allardyce would be too much. I'm hoping they can pull off Coleman or Rowett

surely Allardyce is the pragmatic choice, practically guarantees PL survival

But you can't sell your soul. We learnt that with Graham and others.

Mind you, even at their peak under Steve Coppell, Palace have never really had a playing good football tradition (long balls to Wright and Bright).

Their priority right now will be staying up. Fat Sam, for all his flaws, should give them this.

i'd say the time for that has long past, and like you say, did Palace ever really have one anyway

BFS isn't the dinosaur people think imo, I bet west ham regret binning him now

I'm not sure it's that big a danger. There's easily 6 or 7 worse squads than them in the league. Anyone with a bit of capability should be able to quickly steer them safe. They'll have a bit of money in January too.

pardew has a similar trajectory in all his jobs, a bit like Redknapp, good at sorting out a mess and able to turn form around but the longer they are in charge and adding their own player choices things fall apart

again that's something BFS has been decent at, he doesn't try to get too clever, I reckon he'd do a decent job as England manager actually

Benteke, Zaha, Townsend, Remy, Cabaye, McArthur...there should be enough there to stay up quite easily with the right manager. Don't get me wrong, it's a competitive league now, the likes of Leicester, Middlesbrough, West Ham all have some very good players but are in the bottom half, but I'd still say Palace shouldn't be ending up in the bottom three.

Our trip there in March now looks like just the sort of game where we lose to rejuvenate an Allardyce survival bid...

Aren't all candidates supposed to step aside while Giggs strolls into the PL manager's position that is rightfully his because he's played lots of football matches?

...as will be the case with Gerrard and Terry in a few months time.

Or better still give it to the guy who talks a good game but fails in real life. Neville.

I think that it took balls for Neville to take his first job overseas. I also think that it is a little harsh to judge anyone after only half a year in a job.

I agree
He also joined a side that was in a poor position before hand and he couldn't fix it

Players always get sick of Pardew. At first, his quntiness is a refreshing change and even brings a grudging respect. And then it becomes a grind and then the players have only one thought; "what a qunt."

If you took away Mourinho's money and success, you'd be left with Pardew.

I think it was his ego that made him take that job actually. He didn't see failure as an outcome, but that's exactly what happened. The job was too big for him and he wasn't prepared for it.
