Pocognoli is good enough to be playing left back. vertonghen is the second best centre half they have though, definitely.

I cannot see how that was a straw man argument. If you don't mind taking the time feel free to walk me through your thought process on that one.

On the other hand it seems that your problems with me extend way beyond this one post. Probably best if we just try to stay out of each other's way if you decide to go back to posting regularly unless this is a sentiment shared by a larger group of posters and not just you or a handful.

There was something a few weeks back about Pochettino splitting up Kaboul/Vertonghen as he wanted someone with experience alongside Fazio in the cups to ease him in (I don't remember the exact reasoning). They had a meeting where that was explained to Jan. That could easily be construed as player being unhappy, then being told by manager to deal with it.

Find this strange since Vertonghen was the captain against Asteras. Why make the player the captain if you are not on good terms with him and then drop him for the next match ?
 
Probably something to do with dropping him for two cb that are supposedly good in the air, to deal with Stoke supposed aerial threat.

In which case epic fail by Poch, one of many.
 
I'd agree, but I still think the problem comes from our fullbacks and deep midfielders overcommitting and leaving the CB's with no cover.
 
I second Legohamster: Jan and Dier for the rest of the season. Sure, Dier might be a bit overwhelmed being given the first-choice CB spot so soon, but at least he'll learn from his ****-ups and get better: Playing Kaboul runs the same risks as playing Dier, and unlike Eric Kaboul's too old to change his ways, so there is no net benefit from playing Kaboul over Dier.

The 27-year-old admitted Spurs’ form so far has been nowhere near good enough but he is confident the team can turn their season around.

"It's not good enough, but we are working hard to get to where we want to be,” Vertonghen said. “We want to be in the top four. We are looking for our best form.

“At the start of the season there where seven or eight teams wanting (to finish) top four, and two or three will be disappointed. I hope it's not us. I am confident we can finish in the top four.

“After this week we need to talk. Belief is still there. Hopefully we can be honest with each other, and turn things around."
