Hate to say it, but this guy will not make it. Needs too much time and space on the ball. Constantly dispossessed and he is also a defensive liability. Want him shipped out in January, if we can get anything near his transfer price. He shirked a couple of defensive headers too. A bit of a pea heart me-thinks.
Have no fear, Poch will sell Lennon/Soldado and keep Lamela & Paulinho ...

At lease Lamela can shoot. Lamela can cut the other stuff out of his game.
He needs to get used to the Premier League and he needs games.
If he does succeed here he can easily go to Spain or Italy and be a top player with more space to play. Townsend will never be able to do that.

At least Lamela made a few things happen. He's pretty bad tracking back. Plays into attackers hands by getting too physical. He needs to learn how to get back and defend effectively. It was tight first half, Palace working hard to deny space. While 60% didn't come off for him, at least he made some openings. And as he was fresher than the rest of the team, he should have been kept on. He was creating chances and was one of the more involved players today. Go find another spacegoat!

Sorry mate, he narrows the pitch, dwells on the ball to long, damn near gave away a penalty, doesn't protect Dier
Talent/effort is not the issue, it's he's way off the pace in the PL and does not help us from a formation perspective

Yeah he was pretty awful in our half today. But going forward only Eriksen was more dangerous.

Yeah his PL record is positively lethal. What is it now? 25 games 0 goals? Maybe he CAN shoot but he currently cannot work himself into shooting positions because he lacks the cut and thrust to beat an opponent, something Townsend actually does have. That's not to say Lamela won't get better but right now the net result of Lamela and Townsend is the same, both are largely ineffective and frustrating, just in different ways.

Sorry but besides trying to think positive we didn't blow 30 mill I don't know how you can have glasses that rose tinted he was pitiful worst player on the pitch by some distance Chadli came on first minute of 2nd half and played a neat ball to put Davies through down the left and me and my mates agreed he had already been more productive than Lamela

And Lamela played a sublime ball to Davies that put him in in the first half. Dont remember Chadli creating anything for him.

He wasn't great, but I'm not a big fan of half time substitutions. Once you have selected and started a player, and then you use one of your subs by taking him off at half time, its basically an admission that you got your lineup wrong (and it likely didn't do Lamela's confidence much good either). I think he should have been given an hour today, and have a word with him during the interval if need be before he goes out again. It wasn't like we were losing, one goal may have won it, and maybe Lamela could have provided that spark after a half time chat.

Sadly I don't think we'll get anything like that, very few clubs pay that kind of money and it's a limited market. No English club would be interested and only the 2nd tier Spanish clubs. Only the top Italian clubs might be prepared to pay a bit extra. I honestly think we'll sell him for around 15 Mil + add ons. He's a player we're gonna take quite a hit on I think.
