He's played there, though whether out of design or because he's been the best available we wont know.

Replace GKN with a Mane type (obviously before they cost £50m!), replace Sissoko with Barkley (I know a lot will disagree) and bring in Andre Gomes as the replacement for Dembele. Fantasy football is easy isnt it?!?

Agreed. So often we don't see the best of squad players until they've had a decent run of starts. Think of Davies last season, and dare I say it Sissoko this.

GKN certainly showed glimpses of real quality when coming on in the closing stages of the Karaoke Cup tie against Barnsley. His problem is he's unlikely to get too many chances unless Ghod forbid we have a really bad run of injuries.

Never seen Gomes play to be honest

GKN is another on the list of players that makes sense on paper but not on grass

Barkley would be an attacking player rather than a Centre mid so that makes sense

He's been here for say 15 months now and the fact that he's not getting any starts, and even very few appearances off the bench, is telling. Today we had 3 defenders on the bench, rather than picking GKN ahead of one of them - again, tells a story.

A broader concern I have with him is that when he has played, he looks like an out and out winger who hugs the touchline. We dont play with out and out wingers and if we did, then they'd take the space which our wingbacks so the wingbacks would become full-backs and you probably then need someone on the right wing to balance us up. Irrespective of the actual player, I don't see us playing with an old-fashioned winger like GKN under Poch
 
I think it was more his movement, the commentators highlighted that a couple of crosses came in and usually he'd be making a run for them but didn't. Also didn't drop into the channels or press anywhere near like he normally does. I think he needs a rest till he's back fully fit as he's the one player we really don't have an alternative for that lets us play in the same style.

There were a couple of balls across where he as a good three yards off where he would usually be. Eriksen also played a superb reverse channel pass to slide him in on goal for their usual sympatico, but Hazza was a yard slow moving, it was very unlike him.

Fantastic stat, especially given how we struggle to score at home this season. Too bad his long range shot didn't hit target today, he usually does from that range.

It's almost like when he's off form he's "only" a 20 goal a season striker, and whe he's on form he'll get you more than a goal a game...
