Harry Kane MBE

I'd like to congratulate Harry on being one of the few players last night to keep his head and stay focused on the bigger picture...maximum points regardless of the title! He was the consummate peacemaker and conducted himself in such a way that makes me proud to support Spurs. Was it me or did it look like Fabregas was making that point to him at FT too?

Shame the same can't be said for some of the others. Walker is a fudging idiot, leaving a pointless petulant leg in on Pedro or wiping his nose and throwing it in Costas direction - what a tool. If there's anyone that needs to keep his mind 100% on the game it's him!
As for Dembele and Alli, they need to be taught a damn good lesson too! They let their team-mates down with their own schoolboy petulance, allowed the emotion to get the better of them. Say we had have beaten WBA and Chelsea…there'd have been every chance (and still is) that So'ton would've turned us over without them both in the team anyway. GHod knows they're not exactly brick or playing badly.

So angry with the way some of our players conducted themselves…Harry however, well played Sir, well played.

I agree. Some of our players could learn a lot from Harry. He just goes about his business and doesn't let anything the opposition throws at him rattle him. And that's the key: when they see they can't rattle you, they eventually stop trying to. As long as you show them they can get under your skin, they'll keep on doing it.

Don't think its petty at all tbh. Kane started the whole thing, you shouldn't say things if you can't take any blowback.

I'm sure he'll take it in good faith.

Back on topic, what a bloody good player we have.

yeah, nothing really to see here - a gentle ribbing afaic

They're young, it happens. Bit petty of Vardy to tweet that at Harry when he should be fully engrossed celebrating his title, but hey, fair dos. And our players are part of the social media generation, so it's a given that they'll be more involved than players of the past were in personal exchanges with rival players.

The lesson is that the next time Harry tweets a picture of lions or whatever, it shouldn't immediately be followed up with draws against West Brom and Chelsea. :p I'd love for us to just get our players off social media completely (i.e, enact a Ferguson-esque ban on this stuff), but I think modern football's too far down the path, and I don't think it would be a good thing from the standpoint of our players interacting with the fans. I would be happy with just that siege mentality being imbibed by the lads instead

I don't think anything left to be said, let football do the talking.

At the end of the day we make sure that this is Vardys highlight of career and only the start of Kanes and in 4 years time when Vardy is back at Fleetwood that will be the last laugh

This for me as well, and that is why Alli has to learn how to do this.

Jamie Vardy 47 goals 141 games
Harry Kane 49 goals 81 games

Know who I'd sooner have in the team.
The racist bloke who used to have to be substituted early in games so he could go home to not break the curfew on his conviction for assault?

Hahaha sounds bitter but it does amaze me how these things are under the carpet due to sporting ability.

Bit like Terry banging a team mates wife and nothing happening

I agree that Harry always conducts himself in a great way, but it's also important to remember that people are different. Some people naturally have a shorter fuse and more aggression in them, whilst others are less confrontational. Harry, Eriksen and Alderweireld seem to belong to the latter group. They never get involved in anything. Rose, Lamela and Alli for example, seem to get a rush of blood to the head more easily.

I was disappointed by what happened after the equaliser. Before that, I think we had dealt with the game and the occasion well, but afterwards we forgot about playing football. There was still more than 10 minutes to get a goal from, but hardly any football was played. Our reaction was very understandable under the circumstances, but we really a needed a couple of cool heads at that stage telling the rest of the players to focus on the game and chase the winning goal.

I am trying my best not to be bitter, honestly I am. If I was being fair I would have mentioned that the other choice once wore an Arse shirt and had his hair dyed red.

Just had a thought (which can be dangerous for me) IF Kane continues to score at the same rate he'll have 85 goals when he reaches 141 games. Even with a 50% drop off in production he'd have 67, why is Vardy being lauded so much as a proven goal scorer, he scored FIVE goals last season.

I think, just as with Kane, the time to properly judge Vardy's goalscoring ability is in one year's time. Kane has proven he's not a one season wonder. Vardy will have to prove himself next season.

Kane > Vardy for me any day though.

Vardy is clearly a very good player. Yes he had a purple patch earlier in the season that elevated the number of goals he scored this season above what you would expect from him in a normal season, but it is clear from watching him that he is a constant threat. He has pace, awareness, confidence and is a good finisher. While I would be surprised to see him get more than 20 goals next season (especially with teams actually "respecting the point" as Sam Allardyce puts it and playing a lot more cagey against Leicester). I would also be surprised to see Vardy get less than about 14 or 15 goals assuming he remains reasonably injury free.

I'm sure I saw a stat about Vardy being the quickest player in the PL -- think it was "highest recorded speed" rather than "time to travel 50 yards". Walker was 4th or 5th.

Vardy has been immense for Leicester this season. Ranieri set up the team to play on the counter, with a pacey forward leading the line and everyone else set up to give him the ball quickly and in dangerous positions. With confidence, his finishing has been superb. He also makes well-angled runs that must be very difficult to defend against. Until Vardy loses his pace, which will happen, he'll still be a very dangerous player.

Kane's best assets are his finishing, work rate and footballing brain. He's super-fit but not super-quick. Poch has us set up our attackers to play more of a pressing-heavy total football, and a #9 willing to drop back is essential to that.

I can see Kane getting better over the next 5 years while Vardy drops off. But if Leicester can keep Mahrez, I'd still be tempted to put money on Vardy to score 20+ next season.

One significant difference is that Kane more often has to break down teams with ten men behind the ball whereas owing to Leicester's counter-attacking set-up Vardy will more often have fewer defenders to overcome and more space within which to line up his shots.

Not taking anythng away from Vardy's outstanding record mind, he still has to shoot straight and maybe this is a more difficult skill when attacking at speed.

But if Mahrez leaves in the summer he could find his line of supply is much less prolific.
