Strange that there isn't an uproar with St.Paddy's. Stick Red and white up everywhere in April and the foreign ****s will start going mental. A very sad fact.
 
I don't understand the obsession with St Patricks day. We have a fudging parade in Sydney for it. Why???
 
If you aren't Irish and still celebrate St Patrick's Day then you are just an alcoholic. Nothing wrong with that, but at least be honest with yourselves.

And it is not 'St Patties Day', Americans. No. It just isn't. Paddy's or Patrick's. Not this odd middle term you've created to excuse excessive drinking and green face paint.

There was uproar in Luton a few years ago when the Tricolour was flown over the town hall for St Patrick's Day but there were no plans made for St George's Day, it got rectified pdq once news broke.
 
Its all kicking off on twitter at the moment. Shane Duffy tweeted support for the IRA and then claimed it was his "mate". #Yeahright
 
Why do people get hung up about Englishmen celebrating St Patrick's day?

English people celebrate it because they like to drink and wear silly hats.
 
What about the troubles this is a more pertinent fact than drinking. Who cares about the 1916 uprising but the Warrington bomb was inhumane.

Actually, it isn't more pertinent. Let's not beat around the bush, this country's national pastime is drinking. Give people a day where it is organised for them, they can get cheap drinks and drink to excess and on top of all this wear a silly hat, they'll be right on board.

I think it's a bit sad that you associate Saint Patrick's day with the IRA, whether people like it or not, Saint Patrick's day has been adopted by many many countries as ultimately a fun day (mainly drinking but, I remember my celebrations as a child with my family fondly, coming from an irish family- many of whom who have witnessed or unfortunately had family members or friends lost in the atrocities) and to assosiate Saint Patrick's day with the horror's carried out by the IRA and the horror's that spawned them is sad.
 
I respect what you say but the fact remains that this should be more of a somber day and people reflecting on their past indiscretions.
