Ok, without knowing any further details then it's hard to form any opinion on why
Because he's out of contract next summer. You are basically letting him go on a free a year before his contract ends.

Burnley may not have been offering to pay his wages or a fee - just because we rejected an approach doesn't mean the reasons are what you want them to be.
Letting a player go on a free before his contract ends sounds a win in some cases, why would we be against that vs paying their wages for a year while they don't even make the match day squad ?
See my previous posts. I've already gone over the reasons and how it could cost tens if not hundreds of millions of pounds in future transfer revenue. We need to do what we can to stop players running down their contracts.
I've seen your posts and i disagree with your thinking - if players are happy to see out their contracts they will do so and I'm not seeing collecting your wage whilst being 4th/5th choice as a deterrent.
If Sanchez and Tanganga go, Dier might think there's a possibility, just via lack of numbers that come a time of injuries and suspensions he'll ascend the option list.I've seen your posts and i disagree with your thinking - if players are happy to see out their contracts they will do so and I'm not seeing collecting your wage whilst being 4th/5th choice as a deterrent.
We're not losing out on any transfer revenue as these are players that we are paying highly, we don't want and nobody else particularly wants. As i said it sends out a terrible message to the other players. That if they sit tight they can run their contracts down with no repercussions. We would lose out on tens (if not hundreds) of millions of pounds of future transfer revenue.
We could still do that with him on loan if we insert a recall clause. I also can't see us selling Dier in January. At that point he will be able to sign a pre-contract with an overseas club. We have to accept that we're not getting a penny for Dier and getting as much of his £80k a week off the books is the best outcome for us at present.Fair enough. If we don't loan him though we still have the opportunity to try and sell in jan though. Get something back for him.
Experience can show up a players ceiling while a lack of it has that mystery of lottery.Football is quite funny though.
All types of inexperienced players going for big fees but an experienced head for say, just £5m, no interest at all.

He will have his contract cancelled and leave on a free next week
We may have accepted itWhich would cost us £4m. We would have accepted the loan offer if that was the case.
We may have accepted it
Bug doesn’t mean he has
what windows are still open after today?
We could still move him on (even on loan) after today, just lest options.
And im sure, him sitting out for a season wont give him better options next summer
You're also getting his wages off your wage bill a year early. We aren't getting a transfer fee so the only way to not make a net loss is to plan him out and have someone else pay his wages.Because he's out of contract next summer.
