Eric Dier

It’s an interesting development to see him at RCB for the past 1 and a half games. Do people think Conte will persist with this thus demoting Sanchez to 3rd choice in that position?

Think that's been a good move overall. Sanchez just offers so little on the ball and it amplifies the limitations at RWB.

RCB is not Dier's best role, but he's done alright moving there apart from some of those errors sneaking back in. A bit like Lloris and a few others he seems to make more mistakes when the pressure is on, not quite the big game player I wish he would be. Hopefully he'll get back to being his solid self soon and make me look silly for suggesting that.
 
Aaaand that Salah goal is why we won't achieve brick with Dier in defence.

The day we get better than him (and most defenders in the league are better than him) is the day we can start dreaming again.

Mediocre, lumbering, feet like cinder blocks, mostly brainless. His only saving grace is that the player behind him, Sanchez, is atrocious in almost every single way, so he starts by default.

Sigh. Just tired of seeing him play, tbh. Him, Sanchez, Davies, Royal...just mediocrity. Crap players from a time when we were happy to scrape 5th, being shown up every week now we are aiming for better.
 
The first player in the team we need to replace if we’re serious about wanting to be a real top team…. Is hidden away in a back 3 even though he is poor on the ball and still costs us goals anyway. Let’s go out and get a proper physical defender like Ndicka and be brave and play him and Romero and start trying to win games instead of trying not to lose them.
 
Think he's better when playing the anchor role. He needs more time than he'll get in the wide CB role. Plus fast wingers roast him. Not sure why Conte moved him, maybe because Lenglet's passing is better.

He's better in that his bombscare moments are usually recovered by better, more intelligent, less mediocre players, sure.

But no one could have saved us from his latest stroke of genius today.

Bombscare from 2014 to 2022, and it will never, ever change. Get. Rid.

He was making ricks there also and his passing is atrocious. Honestly he's not actually particularly good in the central role it's just that his mistakes are covered by the other defenders. There have been numerous times he's been easily beaten or out of position and Romero, Davies Lenglet have made last ditch blocks.

He’s not good enough for either…, what’s the point of having an ‘anchor’ player who is so poor on the ball. Let’s either go out and get a proper, quality anchor or get rid of the 3 at the back and sign a centre back who could partner Romero in a 2

At least he was steady playing well. Was being praised by many. Now our back 3 is all at sea again.

He wasn't. He started the season reasonably well but he'd been poop for the last 54 or 5 games in the centre. He deserved to be dropped. The fans praise Dier because they want him to be good. They like his attitude, he feels like one of us. He doesn't get an unbiased appraisal.
