Daniel Levy - Chairman

Munns position, as i understand it, is more senior than that of a DoF and obviously much more so than a manager, not sure who rival clubs have in such positions but I'm not seeing why the comparisons of stature are being made to DoFs & Managers in here
So we are still missing a DoF unless Munn doubles up as one working with paratici as consultant.

Whatever the current arrangement, i dont think it is working so far. We are slow to sell and I have to assume Levy is OK with that.

And...at this level...its silly to take time give everyone a chance when points are at stake. CL qualification is going to be tight with newcomers crashing the party. Unless Levy has already decided at 23-24 season is to get the house in order and given up on CL.

He's waiting on money from sale of Kane before splurging on our top two target for defenders isn't he? Unless we get good money from other sales which doesn't look like happening anytime soon

Sell clubs best ever striker/ player to buy two CBs. Left with Richarlison up top.

Not really a good place to be in. Going backwards in my view. We have needed CBs for three years. We have been linked with plenty last few years and never got it done. But to think we need to sell Kane to address that is poor on the clubs part. If that’s the case.

Porro for instance 40 million on a RWB why make the move permanent. He’s not a RB we’ve now changed system and Guy can’t defend. Not to say he’s not a good player higher up the pitch but was he really a priority . Once Conte gone we should have said no thanks not type of player we need.

We spend money can’t ever question that but it’s how we spend it seems strange at times.

Whatever decisions are currently his to make due to the Paratichi situation doesn't change the fact he was not appointed as a DoF, so the comparisons are moot wrt the angle you are pushing with it being a case of us appointing Munn over the big hitter DoFs that were available at the time.
So what does a ‘Chief Football Officer’ do then? Also why have we still not got a DoF? (especially as several big hitter DoFs have been available)

Porro was made permanent because it was a loan with an ‘obligation’ deal as opposed to an option. The problem (as always) is the lack of coherent strategy on who the next manager will be and the playing style they use. We waste large amounts of our transfer budget buying players who suit a specific system and then pivot to a completely different one.

Ah ok I thought it was an option.

Depends if Richy can make it as a 20+ goal striker for us. He should as he cost us a lot of money.

I think @Grays_1890 has touched on what his role entails in another post, based off what was released at the time of him joining.

Munn, presumably will be involved in the process of appointing a new DoF/DoF type position, but i don't even know if has he even properly started yet?

Spending a lot of money on him doesn't make him a 20+ goal a season player. If he regularly gets over 15 with others chipping in I'd be happy with that.

If our front 3 are getting the ball in advanced areas on the front foot they will get plenty.

Sons struggles come from back to goal on half way line and the expectation he, Kane and Deki could do it on their own
According to Son his struggles were due to his hernia. There were plenty of times he got the opportunity to run at goal and he just couldn't do it, nothing to do with back to goal.

A lot of people slammed Conte's tactics for Son's lack of goals last season which I honestly think was a case of "outcome + agenda = answer". Son scored a bunch under Conte the year before and didn't fare much better under Mason than he did under Conte last season (albeit Mason only had a few games). So the injury story makes most sense.

I said multiple times last season that he looked to have lost a bit of quickness/sharpness and thought that was fatal to his game because he relies a lot of quickness of feet and his pace. I guess a hernia problem explains that too. I just hope that he can recover because Son losing that little bit of speed will have a much bigger impact on him than, say, Kane.
