Daniel Levy - Chairman

Must confess that I don’t actually get Munn’s role. If it’s not to decide on the football direction of the club then what is it to do?

You don't get his role but are happy to argue it's not a good appointment?

I don't know what his role will cover exactly either but most clubs have several layers of positions between DoF and owners/CEO (City have the two filled by the names i mentioned and Chelsea have 4 people across 3 differently titled roles) Munn sounds like he is slotting in in at that sort of level rather than a DoF. It's an appointment that imv has garnered more attention than it probably deserves due to the focus on Levy atm and with the Paratichi kerfuffle

Then why isn’t it titled ‘Chairman’?

I imagine because Levy currently occupies that title, but by what the club have stated are his areas of responsibility thats clearly what the role is. And as I say, the fact he was appointed at at time when Fab was at the club the clear lines would be a DOF reporting to him and Levy stepping back. Thats a clear win for me if we get the DOF role sorted/Fab returns in the role and if Levy steps back.

The clubs now clearly split with Munn overseeing all football and Kline overseeing all commercial, thats alot cleaner than Levy trying and failing to do both

Do Emirates Marketing Project have one of those people with a job title of: ‘Chief Football Officer’. Do they have them in place without a DoF making the footballing decisions?

So is Levy going to,stop drawing a salary from the club?

Doubt it
He could just take a dividend and cause even more uproar

I imagine he will continue the drive forward of destination Tottenham and the development of the land adjacent to the training ground and market developments elsewhere (as a guess). If he puts another 500m/1bn onto the clubs value he might feel justified in taking a dividend, who knows

I said i don't know exactly and i haven't argued he's a good appointment so 0 for 2 there.

We know what was said upon him agreeing to join and that the roles mentioned pointed to a senior position with a lot of talk saying it pointed to Levy taking a step back with Munn assuming much/some of his responsibilities on the football side - we know he was appointed while we had a DoF in place and that he is still being consulted. We kmow Munn has never worked as a DoF and has been more of an employee at director level.

Yes, once again City have a couple of roles relating to football between DoF & CEO whereas Chelsea have 3, I'd imagine similar at most 'big' footballing clubs.

8th surely represents a brilliant league finish for a club the size of Southampton?
Yeah
But they were 11th the year before. Is 3 places a big thing? And it’s easier going from a lower position to secure mid table
But the eye test was key
And that may be what we have thought with munn

OK, so you’re with me that he’s not a good appointment?

And for info; Emirates Marketing Project don’t have a ‘Chief Football Officer’ and do have a DoF.

I have no idea if he is or isn't same as i would any type of appointment at that level as they are not generally well known people to football fans.

You were comparing him to well known DoFs when he's not a DoF - It's ok to hold your hands up on that.

I’m comparing him to DoFs as the DoF is in charge of football decisions at a football club. Munn is titled Chief Football Officer and we don’t have a DoF, ergo Munn is in charge of football decisions at our club.

Whatever decisions are currently his to make due to the Paratichi situation doesn't change the fact he was not appointed as a DoF, so the comparisons are moot wrt the angle you are pushing with it being a case of us appointing Munn over the big hitter DoFs that were available at the time.

And it would have been even more perplexing if we had appointed another DOF when Fab was still at the club as DOF at the time. Not sure many clubs have two DOFs
