Daniel Levy - Chairman

But that’s the kicker
Your saying Munn is a cheap option and not successful (I may be wrong in your comment) but you don’t know
We certainly don’t know the facts behind his appointment and why the club have gone for him

Exactly that, I don't know its going to work, I can lay out the reasons I think it might work and why I think the reasoning behind it works, but we don't know.

Munns position, as i understand it, is more senior than that of a DoF and obviously much more so than a manager, not sure who rival clubs have in such positions but I'm not seeing why the comparisons of stature are being made to DoFs & Managers in here

I just think it is very strange for a club with income in the top 10 of all football teams in the World to make an appointment like this when there are some real, proven heavy hitters already working in Europe that we could’ve secured with the right offer and conditions of employment.

Who would have been in your say top 3 to go after out of interest?

Indeed, none of us know. I get criticism on here for saying I don’t think he is a good appointment. However those who think he is a good appointment equally have nothing at all to back that opinion up.

We have gone down that path before, not particularly well.

People often criticised Redknapp, but we played some wonderful football under him and did well.

I don't think we need to go after a big hitter, brighton got the de zebri guy and have done well. Let's give our guy a season or two to see how he does.

*unless we improve the defence then whoever does it, does it with their hands behind their backs.

I’m talking about the top guy on the football side, not the manager.

He's talking about Munn rather the Ange - I'm not sure who these big hitters at a senior level that he is referring to, but looking online the senior roles between CEO & DoF at City for example are filled by Danny Wilson and Andrew Hardman - at Chelsea they have :
Chris Jurasek, David Barnard, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley - it's not really a position that household names get employed at.

Emirates Marketing Project Director of Football…. Txiki Begiristain (recruited from Barcelona).

I said this…. ‘I'd be happy with anyone in that above list, especially so if it was any of those 3 in the middle of the list’

The middle 3 were Campos, Braz and Ragnick.

Yeh just had a gander, those would be decent for the DOF job, this role is ultimately chairman of the football operation, they have control over the entire football operations including the woman's team and dealing with the footballing authorities. I suppose Arnold, Barnard, Garlick etc would be the comparable to that role.

Yeh I think there is a confusion about what the role is here. Most if not all the men in the similar roles are from outside football and the city/corporate world who come in because of their ability to organise and run the footballing operation in its entirety. They may have history of clubs under their belt in the role eventually but generally they make the initial quantum leap from high level business or a proven track record else where of scaling sports operations.

Its not the DOF role

Hadn’t Pochettino managed in the two biggest leagues in the World?
Yep
And I’m reality … done very little
One season he may Southampton improve by 3 places
That’s not the kind for thing in paper that would make you got for him
But… the eye test on how he worked showed a lot more
