Cristian Romero

He has got the rep of a very good defender, he wants champions league football and some big teams are after a new CB, this is the perfect time to sell, easily £80m+ what with Messi saying he is the best CB in the world not too long ago.

Fans were complaining Ange is over using players. He rests Romero, and now a poster is complaining because Ange didn't keep him on as he has managed to play full games since for Argentina. That is the very definition of Captain Hindsight.....

Perhaps this is that other Top Trump card called Captain Conspiracy. The timing of this after months out would clearly get a fan response. It could be his natural timing for match fitness or it could have even be designed around the EL campaign.

It has certainly got me wondering though. Logically, Ange had got Christian through 45 mins and then 68 mins so the next logical step was 90 mins. All good with that. However, he then played 2 full games in 4 or 5 days as is the way with international football. I'm wondering how Romero's body coped with that.

We have games on Thurs, 3rd (Chelsea a), Sun 6th (Saints h), Thurs 10th (Frankfurt h), Sun 13th (Wolves), Thurs 17th (Frankfurt a), Mon 21st (Forest).

We surely need to see him to start the Chelsea, Frankfurt x 2 and Forest games and on the bench in the Saints and Wolves matches.

I genuinely hope Danso is back. Now his availability could be the key here to getting Romero back to total match fitness and top form.

No. Romero is a very good defender.

If the price is right, yes we should sell. But lets not try and pretend romero is crap, just because he might have tinkled you off.
He is vastly overrated on here i have said it since day dot. Check most of the goals we concede when he plays and you will see most of them he could have probably prevented (not saying all of them of course).

It's not on this forum. It's all over the world. Pundits, clubs, scouts, computer games.

Seems only a few spurs fans can see the truth while eveyone else can't.

Or there is a bias at play.

He has some elite characteristics as a player
His passing is the best of any CB
But he he also has flaws as we have seen
He is far from crap
He doesn’t appear to want to remain here
He needs his agent to find a club who will pay us an acceptable fee. I think clubs will look at his age and fitness history and make some judgements and that’s gonna be a dent on his expectations

We have no idea if he's pushing for a move. All i've heard is he was tinkled off with the spurs medical staff. Which a lot of spurs fans seem to be aswell.

I'm certainly not going to have a pop at Christian. He's given 4 years to our club and, whilst he knows what we're trying to achieve, he also knows that we're not meeting his expectations as an elite player and world cup winner. Signing a new contract probably doesn't make sense to him. Not signing a new contract probably doesn't make sense to us. So we're at an impasse.

2 years left on his contract. I think we all know what will happen next.

Happy to cash in for the right price but I would be shocked if Danso isn't a significant step down. He just hasn't had a chance to make any major mistakes.

Hopefully Vuskovic is at good at defending in the PL as he is at scoring goals in Belgium.
Maybe he won’t make major mistakes and for what he can’t do passing wise (his passing is good) he doesn’t appear so far to leave his man and wander. That for me is a basic of defending that Romero for us has forgotten and does at least once every game this season

Romero does seem to seek those chances out though.

Must have taken over the mantle from Lloris.
When he is playing well if back him against anyone
When he is playing with one eye off he is liable to do what we see most games now. A stupid jump in that means he is well out of place or will get him carded
Or the famous..your man porro … but I’m already not marking the 2 men I have … hey fudge it I’m still going to the ball
