Cristian Romero

At least, Cuti qualified for World Cup, lol. 🤣🤣🤣

Seriously though, the guy was out for 3 months due to injury, came back earlier this month and only played 3 games for Spurs, all of this affects the level of play!
It does
But it doesn’t change that he was doing the dumb stuff before hand
It’s how he got injured too… jumping into an impossible challenge
We should recognise the high quality stuff he can do whilst also recognise he is a stupid player at times

Walker also had some dumb stuff. He left us at Romero's age and went and played under Pep. That dumb stuff was almost eliminated altogether in his game. Could have been coaching. Could have been maturity. Perhaps some from column A and some from column B.

The sad thing will be that another club will see the best of Romero in the next 5 years. I think you're right in that it needs to upwards of £75m.

Walker wasn’t costing us goals mate
He also recovered from his mistakes in the game which is why he was the best right back on the planet
If another team wants him and will pay the huge fee then we will see
I think we are caught in the trap of over rating ability vs delivery

Walker was lucky not to cost us goals then. It's something I've talked about with Udogie committing the stupid fouls in dangerous areas. When a couple hit the back to the net, everyone will be all over Destiny. He's got away with it so far but needs to get that out of his game like Walker did.

Errr Walker definitely cost us goals and multiple of them. Time is making your memory fade.

He got away with it because one of his world class traits was his pace
Romeo’s trait is passing… awesome
Until he gives it away and is then being turned one on one and he can’t stop the attacker
A better condition for Romero here would be Toby
Both played WC finals (one happens to have messi). Both came here form lesser clubs
Neither blessed with pace but both can pass
Which one would you take?

We had 2 Toby's. We had the one before the 2018 injury and we had the one after. He never had the prior superpowers after.

Toby had very deceptive pace before that injury. Quicker than Romero. He got himself out of many scrapes with it. He was PL team of the year in my mind for a couple of seasons. Then VVD took the league to a new level and became top dog. As sad as it to say it, Toby wasn't worth a shirt when he left us. He just kept dragging the defence deeper and deeper as his legs couldn't cope with the PL. He made the right decision to move on. Spurs should have sold him when wouldn't sign a new contract 3 years earlier. Poch knew it.

The other thought process here is that we had Toby from 26-31. After Ajax, he had sat on Athletico's bench for an entire season followed by that season on loan at Saints where he was great, even playing holding midfield. Christian is only the age now that we bought Toby at. His best years will be ahead of him and he has the raw ingredients to hit Toby levels.

I'd love prime Toby in this team, but he would have the same demands on him that Romero does. All those foot races. All those one on one situations that Ange's system creates. Toby's positional sense and reading of the game was better though. So was his spring for headers. It would in no way be as easy as playing in a Poch system though.

Walker definitely cost us goals with silly decisions, diving in, tackling through the back of a player when there was no need.
We got rid of him and bought Aurier, who was twice as bad at those same things.
FML.

Still amazes me how bad Tripper was for Spurs compared to his other clubs. Our right side was so weak when he was playing. Over 50 caps for England but absolutely no better than Aurier.

2 very poor defenders.

His whole last season for us he needed an operation, but he/the club delayed it, as he'd finally become first choice. The first thing they did at Athletico was make him have it

Trippier was bloody awful defensively, quality crosser but Jesus he can't defend at all. If you have even an iota of pace he gets toasted every time. Even Current Son has done him.

I agree. Massively overrated player that was overhyped because of Southgate's loyalty to him. Trips was even getting selected at LB for England when there were way better LBs like Rico Henry, Tyrick Mitchell available. Southgate just couldn't deal with not having Trips in his squads.

Such a shame for England that Reece James has had so many injuries. He should have most of Trippiers caps. James and Walker were in a different league.
