"Champions of 3rd place, we know what we are"

I don't see why we can't beat Liverpool if we play in the same style we did at Wembley, a more counter-attacking game. It should be easier to play that kind of game away from home. They have fantastic forwards, but I don't think there's much to fear from them in other areas of the pitch. We'll need a bit of luck but if we defend without giving away gifts, then we will get chances to score on the break. Far worse teams than us have gone there and got a point, we have a chance at all 3 if we play a smart game.

Even with the VVD spend, they have the rest of the Coutinho money burning a hole. We are talking Liverpool here.

That have spent a further £50m odd on that midfielder who's arriving in the summer. That plus VVD is most of the money spent already. Their owners don't have much of a net spend irrc.

Because we will not set up to play counterattacking football, unfortunately. Not in Poch's DNA. From interviews and what players have said it sounds like we play counterattacking football by accident and not by design. Poch sets us up to play possession football, regardless of the opposition. Hopefully this is one area that Poch changes his tact on.

I’d argue Dortmund and Pool at home we played that way

Liverpool's attack is strong but it shouldn't be something we fear in a settled shape.

It scares the brick out of me on the break, but I'd have my money on our defenders one against one.

Our problem will be if those spawny clams fluke a worldy from 40 yards and force us out.

Which begs the question, was that by accident or design? In both games it felt like we were forced back by the intensity of their press but were then able to catch them on the break partly because they had over-committed too many forward and partly because their defenders were a bit crap.

Certainly not vs pool
They hardly had the ball and are hardly a possession side
In fact neither are Dortmund so not sure how we executed it

Pool imo didn’t get us back by pressing, I just think we were comfortable with the ball at the back to play it forward

I take it you have forgotten last season at Anfield when Mane ripped Ben Davies to shreds?

Souness, speaking in The Sunday Times, said: "If you pushed me to choose between Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku, I'd take the Belgium international. I can't separate them on skill, so my preference is based on style.

Kane is a fabulous player, with a great football brain and technique. He's maybe more accomplished overall, but I reckon he sees himself as a part No 9 and part No 10, whereas Lukaku is an outright No 9, a centre-forward. They are rare today, the hardest thing to find in football.

Nobody wants to be that man through the middle any more, running forward and taking on centre-halves physically, getting in a race with them and trying to outjump them. Lukaku seems to relish all that and so he should with the power and pace that GHod has given him.

"He reminds me of Didier Drogba, with his speed and strength. He doesn't have the hold-up play of Drogba yet and is not as cute, but that may come. He's only 24. He has already answered the biggest question after his move from Everton to Manchester United. He's shown that he's not overawed playing in front of 75,000 people at Old Trafford and the burden of that £90m transfer fee has had no effect on him."

No I remember it very well, must of only come about because Kane hadn’t scored after about two games. Lukaku is a good striker, Kane is easily a level above....

The only reason Kane does not score in every game is to give other strikers a chance in the battle for the Golden Boot

Its going to be a good game v Liverpool, no doubt about it. I would take a point now but I think we absolutely have to beat Arsenal and Manchester United too otherwise we leave ourselves with a lot to do.

I reckon we’ll draw with United, smash Arsenal and lose to Liverpool.
