Champions League thread 2013/14

Fantastic performance by Chelsea. They do it every time. Defensively top class. As good as it gets.

Wished we had a quarter of the quality they have.
 
Chelsea's CL semi-final scores under Mourinho: 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, 0-1, 0-0. 1 goal scored in 480 minutes (inc extra time).

Got the desired result really. I think we would all have been dancing through hoops if we had got a dour 0-0 draw v Real Madrid in that 1st leg
 
Yep, can't see anything but a Chelsea win. Hopefully Madrid get through and the our old boys humiliate them in the final!

Funny thing is, AVB was trying to do that with us, but somewhere it went tits up and we started losing by a number of goals, while not showing any attacking talent even at home.

Now we've gone too far the other way. Need to get the balance right and get back to defending as a unit, while breaking as a team and getting men forward. United always committed players to attacks, but if the attack broke down, they were expected to SPRINT back to defend. We're missing that right now.

I dont think so. No away goal......1-1 away is a far better result that 0-0. In a game like this, if A Madrid get a goal at the bridge then chelsea will find it hard to get 2 imo

they know they will score at the Bridge thats why......advantage A Madrid imo despite Chelskis heroics. Chelski will regret not getting an away goal
 
I think its pretty well balanced, 0-0 at home in the CL is a good result so Atletico will be happy, on the flip side Chelsea are very very strong at home (Sunderland game aside) and will fancy their chances of winning on the night.
 
Would be interesting to know what the stats say after the first leg in a tie ends 0-0. Who ends up winning more frequently?

The bookmakers have the odds on Chelsea and Atletico very close. I'm thinking they're just about right.

Chelsea will be confident of getting a result at home, but Atletico will also feel pretty confident after some of their away results this season and they're a difficult team to break down.

Hopefully the game tonight will be more entertaining though... :)
 
Simeone will out-mourinho Jose. Pure counter attack.

Chelsea won't be comfortable but 1 early goal for either team changes everything
 
So Terry is out of the league run in and possibly the final if Chelski get there.

So odds of him running out in a full kit having not even played are pretty high ;)
 
Cech and Terry injured, Mikel and Lampard suspended, Matic and Salah cup tied, Hazard still not fully fit......A Madrid have a big chance to go through
