Bale. Could we? Would we? Should we?

Like you I dont watch a great deal of La Liga, or Madrid really, so you can only go by what you hear...

Im not for a second saying he isnt a good player, of course he is.

Im trying to point out that he isnt the player that left, probably never will be, and people should question what their expectations of him are.

I think in our team he would have course bring a lot, but that doesnt mean he is a slam dunk addition. Could be questions to his suitability to our shape, whether or not he fits with the side or stands as an individual, whether he is actually up to the rigours of the PL game...

I wouldnt want him lining up against us, but it doesnt necessarily follow that I would want him lining up for us!

He did provide some outstanding moments of class, thats for sure. Not sure that would make him comfortably the best player in the Pl though.
 
I watch a fair bit of Madrid, not so much this season since Sky gave up the rights admittedly.

I think he’s a smarter player now, with all of the capability he had before but now with the smarts that come from playing at that level.

He is exceptional, still one of the best in the game, his lesser performances at Madrid this season are the failings of the system and the manager imo.

Get him in a Poch team and boom, we’d get 98 points in August alone.

That is a secondary factor. His statements currently suggest he couldnt give a damn if he plays again, happy to collect his cheque and play golf.

Of course, the obvious thing to me was that that was a negotiating point, by saying that the emphasis is on RM to make it worth his while to go.

BUT

What if its true?

What if his heart isnt in it, he couldnt really give a brick? Can he recapture his verve?

I tend to think its more the former, but this needs to be in consideration.

Yes, it's hard to know if he is unmotivated by his current gig or if he is going Bentley on it. I would say more likely the former. If any move suited him it probably would be back to Spurs though. I'd take him back if the financials made sense.

This, he is a better player now, more experienced, certainly has experienced as much pressure as you are likely ever to receive.

The his heart isn't in it is BS, he feels twice now that Zidane has come in and immediately "discarded" him, and the fans blame him for a bricky season (where the midfield players and defenders are more at fault) so as he's being pushed out the door, he's clearly saying I'm not going to lose money because you want to dump me .. and no one would disagree.

Yep, he signed a deal with the club, if they want him gone they need to pay him up

Which IMO is madness.

If anything like that were to happen it would have to be Eriksen = Bale + £££ (with Madrid paying a chunk of his wage).

As you say, they are the desperate ones!

And while on the matter, I genuinely cannot fathom why Eriksen would even want to go there.

Barca I get, but Madrid just seems like Kryptonite to the sort of guy Eriksen is.

Eriksen has never indicated he is interested in Madrid.

For him and Danes in general, Barca is the one ..

Let’s assume rumours are true and they are spending at least 300 million, they are going to have destroyed FFP

They will be giving players away by the end of July.
