we won’t win the league under anyone…. As soon as a top 4 finish looks likely the cheque book goes away.
What possible reason would there be for that to happen this time around though? We all know the stadium had it's say on our spending previously - that's not a concern now though so why would you think we'd hold back if we got ourselves in that position again?

But IMO thats not worse than playing a CM who has played everywhere but CB there
I liked what I saw of him last year before his injury
I’m convinced he would be a top dm
Great passing range
I’m a pretty good judge of a footballer mate (as you’d probably agree?). Dorrington is at least 2 years (and probably 2 loans) away from having a chance.

Surely we aren't still hanging on to a 10 game spell?
Is that not a 'short time frame' :p

But seriously, our transfer policy is one now focused on talented young players which I'm happy with. But with that is going to come massive inconsistency whilst they are developing so I don't see the point of sacking Ange, the same problems will persist with whoever the next manager is except maybe we will be tighter in defence but then score less with the bang average attackers we have and then fans will whinge about the boring football and the cycle will go on and on.....

I would be happy taking that position re the focus on younger players and developing if I actually saw some evidence of there being some developing of youngsters taking place :tearsofjoy:

Not arguing that, i promise
But playing another player i a new position is worse, no?
Gray is far more equipped to play CB for the first team. The difference between first team PL football and age group football is huge. I don’t think Dorrington would yet start in division 1. He has potential but still a very long way to go.

But they have to be ready, most fans just think oh he looks good he must be ready to play PL football. See Bergvall, everyone raving about him pre season and complaining why Ange didn't play him yet when he did eventually play him first game he was awful.

He was gently integrating Moore giving him PL minutes until his injury. Where Conte didn't play Sarr Ange put him in straight away. I don't know why he's not played Gray at CM but he's giving him experience at least. Odobert was getting played almost instantly but got injured. Let's be honest Ange is better placed to know whether they are ready or not than any of us....

based on 25 years of history. The only time the club ever really went for it was that January under Redknapp when they thought there was a possibility of relegation.
It's not 25 years though, it's the years within those 25 that we came close which just so happened to fall around the time that the stadium development was beginning & ongoing.

Well it's a hypothetical debate with no clear cut answer I suppose - we've seen managers trust youth before and make it work - is he the right man to put that trust in? We don't know, all we know is that so far he hasn't

Fans on the radio were blaming him
Saying it’s Masons fault they have all failed as he is the common factor
They always say young managers learn most from the bad managers they've played/coached under, not the good ones. After Nu-Mor-Conts and now this charlatan, Mason must be having the best schooling possible for becoming an elite manager

It'll be interesting to see how we fare after December is over. I don't want us to sack Ange before we've seen how we've made it through that period. If we have lost to United in the cup, and have had further defeats in the league, I reckon the writing might begin to appear on the wall for Ange. We all know Levy has a tendency to sack managers when the going gets really tough.

I'm all for his philosophy, but his rigid system has shown its weaknesses time and again, and the man himself says he refuses to budge. That's fundamentally OK, really, but if it means we are going to lose too many football matches, it will eventually, and understandably, cost him his job.

Hopefully, we get through December allright, Ange knows what profiles he needs to sign in January to get things going at a more steady pace, and we get them in. Do I think that will happen? I think it's a stretch to be honest, and that his sacking is more likely - but hope I'm wrong. Otherwise it'll be another case of hiring someone else and another round of this never ending dance - but who knows, maybe we'll find the next Billy Nick.

When we were 2nd and pushing Leicester we weren't moving stadiums then were we? (Genuinely can't remember, and also can't remember what our transfer window was like when we were pushing for the PL)

But just looking at history, I would be more shocked if we did push on further and buy proper players that would help us

Jumping from ange to the next "oh, he looks good" manager just isn't going to work IMHO.
As for Poch, the guy worked wonders here and yet there's still some who cannot bring themselves to praise him, are Potter or iriola going to get a fair crack?
And as for the cheapskate levy phalanx they'll be sticking pins in their voodoo dolls.
Fair point mate. I am usually on the side of giving the manager time when results are not necessarily great but it’s clear progress is being made. But I think Ange has had 18 months to implement his system with a fairly consistent set of players and we do not appear to be going in the right direction. I like the bloke, but don’t think he is the long term option for us. Plus, worryingly for me his tactics appear to be driving the team into the ground with no apparent upside in terms of results.

The stadium project stretches back to before Pochettino afaia but we broke ground during his time. With 16/17 being our last season at WHL the 15/16 season (Leicester 2nd place) was most definitely during the period most affected
