Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

It seems you've chosen the wromg team matey.....move along

Oh pipe down buddy you were one of Redknapps biggest critics but that was ok then and tinkled if any one supported him. Had you chosen the wrong team then? I have supported Spurs since 1980 before a lot of these posters were even born.

No offence intended mate "deluded" was not aimed at you specifically writing views is not the same as speaking. I still stand by what I said in the rest.

So I cannot argue that the owner should have backed the manager, as he promised, when things got a bit sticky?

Loyalty is great but really no one, but AVB and the most deluded spurs fan, can make that argument after Chelsea won the Champions League and FA cup after he was sacked. Most people would say it was the right decision, I'm sure abramovich doesn't feel bad.

Chelsea were still in the cups under AVB and were (iirc) a point off of us in the league - us at a time where we were in the form of our lives.

AVB was promised support, didnt get it, and because Chelsea fluked their way to the CL (and fluked is really doing them a kindness) and dropped out of the top 4 race altogether no one can argue Abramovic should have backed the manager?

Sorry mate, Im inclined to think that the owner should have stuck to his original promise and not shafted the manager.

While things were undoubtedly rocky at Chelsea, its not like they were in the relegation scraps. They were in the cups and the top 4 race despite the upheaval they were going through in trying to implement a new system of play (with new players) and a new manager AT THE BLOODY OWNERS REQUEST.

You stated there is no such thing as long-term in football then in the very next sentence requested contiuous CL qualification year upon year and consistent stadium investment. To me these aspects cannot be mutually exclusive - hence my comment.

I think you missed my point Arc never mind.

Nah...I'll say what I see.

I think your definition of support is somewhat different to mine.

Harry was in charge 4 years.....I'm not going to go over the exhaustive list of reasons I wanted him gone.

You are laying into and undermining a manager who has been here a month.

Disgraceful actions.

If I'm honest I agree with Robspur here.

We're at a point in time here where we have the foundations in place, for me we either finalise those foundations (by qualifying for champs league and keeping Bale etc) and build a better house with the extra pull and increased revenue we have due to being in the CL or we get rid of the foundations (no CL qualification, lose Bale etc) and start from scratch in a completely different location.

Long term I suppose the goal is the same, however it will be much easier and I would much prefer to go about it the first way than the second.

I agree that Levy is expecting AVB to hit the ground running and at least challenge for the CL spots this year.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Erm..

The foundations? We had one striker and our best midfielder wants to leave. Those are not 'foundations in place'.

IT seems reasonable to me as well.

Look at the starting 11 from last year.....what is the difference in personnel??

Modric? That's not by choice and he will be replaced i'm sure. And King? He's fudged.

The rest of the team is the same.

People are going on like we've replaced the whole starting XI for fudge sake......drama queens.

Bale has just signed a new deal WITHOUT champs league football...did you miss that point? People are talking like we've had it consistantly and we are jepardising it through these actions.......when in fact we are a Europa League team.

But of course some lemmings blindly follow the media narrative without actually using their own brains and eyes.

Hold on........didn't Harry leave us with a championship winning team?? I'm confused!

Saha and Nelson in January were the final pieces of the puzzle?

Selling Pav, and completely alienating Charlie and Nico was all the plan I hear.

Sidelinging Bentley and Gio was the plan......they were always an integral part of the squad even though they played zero games for 3 seasons under saint harry.

I'm confused.......

The fact is Harry's squad management was fudging disgraceful and left us with a massively bloated team of players who were unfit and demotivated.

We've done a huge amount to recify that and strip out probably £20 million off the wage bill......so we now have some elbow room to really push on and bring in talent in a core squad of 25 players who will ALL get game time.

People forget that AVB's mentor was Mourinho.....the lack of perspective and clarity over exactly what Harry left us with is shocking and depressing.

I must have missed last season.

I was under the impression he left us with a relatively unbalanced squad. Lots of CB, but no Wing cover. Lots of CM, but no FB cover.

All that is occurring is the balancing of that squad.

Get off your high horse buddy. AVB's appointment, what ever spurs fans think, was a gamble. Taking into account luck etc the facts are Chelsea won trophies after he left and continue this season to look good. AVB on the other hand appears to be manically changing every thing about a Spurs side that was relatively sucessful. That said he has my support I have not said sack him but I am concerned about his methods that failed at Chelsea. Expressing my concerns on a football forum about this is no worse than the same lot of people slagging off HR last season. That's what a forum is for.

We've just signed Ade.

Modric has not yet gone, but even if (when) he does, our starting 11 will be pretty much exactly the same as the team that finished 4th last year.

It amazes me how daft football fans can be, we finished 4th, 5th, 4th then all of a sudden it's ok to finish 7th with same team because we have a new 'technical' manager in place who needs time to build for the long term.

If Redknapp was still manager and someone on here came out and said he'd be happy to finish 6th/7th to allow Harry to build for the 'long term' then they would be absolutely ridiculed. I wasn't a Harry fanboy by the way.

I'm in no way against AVB, I look forward to the season ahead with him in charge but if we don't at least challenge for CL places with the team that we have, I will be dissapointed.

Exactly. Just signed. You can't count him in any 'foundations' you might have, because when AVB arrived, he wasn't here.

I have no idea who you are talking about, because i've not read anyone state this in the last couple of pages.

Pretty much exactly the same first eleven? That's a bad thing really. Are United going to be playing with their same first eleven? Chelsea? Liverpool? No. All of them have attempted to improve their teams. Which is exactly the same as AVB is attempting to do.

So basically, close your eyes to the actual things that happened.....Messi and Robben missing 2 penalties to win the ties and Chelsea parking the bus for 4 games on the trot? Nah....and i'm not your buddy, OK pal?
