Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Because he's foreign and young and not Saint Harry.

The media have in him their cross hairs and sadly some of our fans are following their narraitive without actually using their fudging brains.

I can't believe there are people out there who complain and moan about AVB who is trying to sculpt his own team to the way he plays. It's fudging hilarious. The guy has just begun and getting slated already. Lets have a look at what Redknapp done to our team:

Brought in a new striker, a new attacking midfielder, a new central midfielder, a new centre half, a new right back and a new goalkeeper to a team he inherited yet he didn't get slated did he? All AVB has done is bring in a new centre half (which probably wasn't even him who signed him), brought in a new attacking midfielder (once again, who we were linked with before AVB was even signed) and a new striker (who was here last season anyway)

So how AVB can get slated is beyond me when Redknapp changed our team more.

harry did that over 4 years and didnt really make whole sale changes to important core member

BUT...i do agree entirely with what you are saying

I have no opinion on AVB as of yet. I think he has the potential to be either a total revelation or a complete failure. But for evey fan that follows the media narrative there will be one that blindly supports AVB (the same way there was for Harry, the same way there was for Jol, the same way there was for Ramos). Thats just the way football fans are.

Loyalty is great but really no one, but AVB and the most deluded spurs fan, can make that argument after Chelsea won the Champions League and FA cup after he was sacked. Most people would say it was the right decision, I'm sure abramovich doesn't feel bad.

I'm sure that he doesn't. It's a perfectly fair argument.

However, long term, it may be a decision that costs Chelsea. Had Abramovich kept his nerve and stuck to the plan that he and AVB had devised, Chelsea might have emerged as a club that consistently won the top trophies while also playing an exciting brand of football - without having to spend stupidly in the transfer market every summer.

Totally agree with this. Those who throw abuse make me laugh, what's the point of a forum if not to discuss matters? What is laughable those throwing abuse now were the ones on the receiving end when they were criticising HR at the end of last season. Shame on them.

So he'll either be a success or a failure?

No brick sherlock!! :)

Yep but if you had read my post and actually thought about it you'd have realised that what I was implying is even if he is a success, you will still have fans who want him out (a la Harry), if he's a failure you will still have fans who want to stick by him (a la Ramos).

You can post your opinions all you like, and we can laugh at them!

When I was copping dogs abuse last season for consistently saying I wanted droopy gone I was slated, did I give a fudge? Did I gonads.

Stand your ground......opinions are like arseholes.

Of course, because people have different benckmarks and agendas

Chicken then why did we get rid of Redknapp if we are not going to get Champs league this season? HR left us with a decent squad, 4-5-4 AVB should be able to better HR or why get rid? You can see why non -spurs people laugh at us. Where's Moonlit Knight when you need him - he would love this argument?

You've never heard of taking one step back to take two forwards?

I disagree with the implied assumption in your post that Harry was sacked principally for football reasons. But even if that had been the case, there is nothing inherently illogical in accepting a temporary minor decline in performance and results by replacing a manager who is successful to a degree with a manager who you will think will be even more successful in the long term.

Time alone will tell whether or not Levy has made the right decision (disregarding the fact that it wasn't, IMO, a football decision). But there is certainly nothing laughable about it.

Get off your high horse buddy. AVB's appointment, what ever spurs fans think, was a gamble. Taking into account luck etc the facts are Chelsea won trophies after he left and continue this season to look good. AVB on the other hand appears to be manically changing every thing about a Spurs side that was relatively sucessful. That said he has my support I have not said sack him but I am concerned about his methods that failed at Chelsea. Expressing my concerns on a football forum about this is no worse than the same lot of people slagging off HR last season. That's what a forum is for.

Eh?

How so?

He's lost Ledley because Ledley retired. He's losing Modric because Modric wants to move on.

How is he "manically changing" everything else?

A few fringe players have left / will leave. But the vast majority are staying. He's even brought Ade back on a permanent deal.

We've just signed Ade.

Modric has not yet gone, but even if (when) he does, our starting 11 will be pretty much exactly the same as the team that finished 4th last year.

It amazes me how daft football fans can be, we finished 4th, 5th, 4th then all of a sudden it's ok to finish 7th with same team because we have a new 'technical' manager in place who needs time to build for the long term.

If Redknapp was still manager and someone on here came out and said he'd be happy to finish 6th/7th to allow Harry to build for the 'long term' then they would be absolutely ridiculed. I wasn't a Harry fanboy by the way.

I'm in no way against AVB, I look forward to the season ahead with him in charge but if we don't at least challenge for CL places with the team that we have, I will be dissapointed.

I think we all will.

But, equally, I hope that we won't lose our nerve and demand AVB's head.

I have to be honest Robspur, I think you and I look at football from fundamentally different viewpoints.

First point, "Manically...", sorry mate - that is rubbish. "Manic" is the last word I would consider when looking at it.

He has cleared out clutter, none of which is effecting the first team.

He gets Vertonghen, something required with Kings retirement.

He is losing Modric through no fault of his own (and clearly he rates him, considering Chelsea trying to get him)

He has supplemented the attacking areas with Sigurdsson

He has brought Ade in permantenly after he became integral to the side last year.

What exactly is manic? The team that started on Saturday had 1 player not here last season!

What methods from Chelsea are you worrying about? So far ALL feedback has been positive (so his terrible man management hasnt materialised) and the changes being made to the team/system seem to be bedding in - suggestive of successful training methods.

What is giving cause for worry?

I disagree (is that allowed?) with the squad needs an overhaul. Imho we need a goalkeeper, a replacement playmaker although Hudd could have played that role and another striker as well as cover. The overhaul happened in 2004 after the pleat debacle we've been slowly building since. This is the most positive squad we've had in years.

A squad with one striker, only 2 wingers, three CBs (one of which is 35), goal keepers with a combined age of 127 (I made that up) and a huge amount of dead wood doesnt need an overhaul?

It needs to be trimmed down from its bloated state and it needs KEY additions to be made for the continuity of the team.

As it happens, to date, his "overhaul" has barely effected the first team compared to Harrys preferred 11.
