Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

I have no doubt the players would have spoken to Chelsea players about him and asked their opinion, I'm also sure most of them wouldn't care less or would still keep an open mind regardless.

I've had bosses come in I've heard bad things about either through reputation or a friend, I've always still worked hard for them and in some cases I've been pleasantly surprised and concluded that other people have been moaning about nothing.

Sometimes I've agreed that they're a terrible boss but I've always come to that conclusion myself over time and I'd hope that's how the players would act too, if he's a good manager they'll quickly ignore the comments from the press and Chelsea players.

I agree with all of that.

I think where it could be difficult for AVB is if we hit a bad run of form.

But some were saying that AVB would be a bad appointment because of what Chelsea players might have said to our players. Clearly whatever Chelsea players might have said means bugger all.

If our players come to the conclusion that AVB is a bastard in 3 months, it's not because of what he did to the Chelsea players, it's what he did to ours. But it would have been that way whether he had the Chelsea experience or not.

I said that I thought that if his behaviour at Spurs reinforces what the players may have heard from the Chelsea players, his job will be harder. I still think that but I never thought that he would receive a hostile reaction from our players. Hopefully, the players will adapt to him quickly, embrace his ideas, we continue to build the squad over the summer with players that the manager wants and we get off to a flyer next season and continue to improve.

I think the players will be impressed by the new training methods after 4 years of Redknapp. With Chelsea though AVB was nothing new they'd seen it all before with Mourinho and Ancelotti. Under Redknapp we had players suggesting training. Remember Redknapp's comments on Yoga ''It's great for the players. They are all doing it now. Brad Friedel started it here. He brought a lady in to start doing the yoga and if it's good enough for Brad with the shape he's in at 40, then it's good enough for the rest of us."

I don't think that you can make a blanket statement like that. Some players will respond to the new methods and enjoy the change, some will won't and will find it boring.

I don't think that Friedel doing yoga is the same as the players suggesting training. Is it any different that Giggs doing palates?

A new training ground will probably help AVB though, I'd imagine there will be a bit of a cautious buzz around the squad.

fudge these players revolutions etcetc, knuckle down , listen to your boss , give 110 percent , and quit bellyaching .. Remember Saint Nicholson is watching over all of us ....

I agree. And those players that aren't willing to push themselves in training every day to become as good as they can and reach their potential for their own good and the good of the club despite it sometimes being a bit boring can try their best not to let the training ground gate hit the rear-end of their ridiculously expensive car on their way out to their next overpaid job at some other club. Good riddance.

what if it was BOTH bale and modric?

these players are so lucky...it wasnt so long ago that pre season started with a week of running. Now they get to work with the ball from the first day!!!!

if any of them complain then they are pure and simple knobs

It's all pure speculation. My point is that anyone right now trying to say that player public comments and a few pictures is proof that people were wrong with regards to how the Spurs players may have been influenced by Chelsea is seriously misguided.

Unless you know some of the players personally, then no one knows what is going on. That includes the media, although a lot of the journos will be matey with some of the players (and agents, coaches etc) and have a better insight than the average fan. But does it really matter if the Manager isn't liked by the players? Not really. It's no secret that a fair few Utd players over the years don't like Fergie for example. It's how the Manager handles those players that's the key.

Spot on. In everyday work I'm sure they would but as footballers they don't have the nous to think normally.

I know you're making an extreme point and I understand what you're saying. Very little chance of those two actually having those problems of course.

I really think that if we want to take another step up as a club we have to improve the overall attitude within the club. If that means getting rid of our two best players then so be it I say. Although maybe not straight away, would have to get some good deals for them.

Hopefully AVB has sorted out whatever affliction causes him to have such a raspy voice. Always sounds like he needs to have a drink and clear his throat.

give it a few games after AVB has found his first 11 and how the other players can contribute, and a few wins and losses... more likely to get "honest feedback" from players on the bench then!

Interesting to see the press conference.

Finding it hard to get excited purely because last time I thought, we're almost there, this new guy is going to push us over the line and were going to start challenging for things was the appointment of Ramos. There's quite a few similarities between the two situations. :~

Think AVB will either be a disaster or an absolute revelation, I suppose only time will tell
