Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

We were riding high in 4th when Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were a complete shower. All those clubs could have offered higher wages than us and spent more on fees, but all of them were massively under-performing.

It would be stupid to judge AVB basing it on a season that Harry achieved when his direct competitors were all performing seriously below where they should be. Arsenal had so much brick to deal with and yet we couldn't even finish above them, so it wasn't even as good as it should have been IMO.

No-one is knocking what Harry did, the record is good. The 4th in 09/10 was brilliant considering we beat City and all their money. But this 4th was a poor achievement considering the competition. Of course Harry isn't talking about other clubs ability, why would he? It would reduce his achievement. He's only willing to use the 'It's different to the Jol years because now we have to contend with Emirates Marketing Project' line, which is completely fair. But he neglects to mention we didn't have to deal with Chelsea and Liverpool. 4th should have been the minimum last year, and we really should have been 3rd.

Don't waste your breathe. Troll central.

Says who? Who says we're moving forward?

I base my view on the knowns, not the unknowns.

Our last three seasons has been: 4th, 5th, 4th.

Who in their right fudging mind would start banging a drum for finishing 5th or even 6th, when that's the form in front of you? All this flimflam about teams around us; teams around us? Hmm okay, well Harry didn't seem to have a problem with what other teams around us were doing, so it seems like some excuse which is already being put in-place in order to justify failure.

It's utter nonsense. The truth here is that some of you got obsessed with Harry Redknapp, the person. But Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, was doing a job which produced a record that not a single one of you can criticise. He didn't need crap like 'oh well what if x team improves, and another one too, blah blah blah'. No, he just on and did the job with the resources he had to work with.

The bottom line for me, is that whoever comes in better get fudging 4th or else it's a failure of Levy's judgement. 6th, 7th? fudge off, are some of you having a laugh? You'd seriously take 7th when we've been riding high up in 4th? Give me a fudging break, or what really IS really important to some of you?

No wonder the media have such a laugh at Spurs fans: if I was a journalist, I'd be laughing my crack off if I read fans of a football club who'd finished 4th, 5th, 4th suddenly saying 'oooh, hmm, well I guess I'd take 6th...and even 7th'. Seriously, no fudging wonder we're labelled small time and laughed about.

I can only imagine what Arsenal fans must be saying - christ almighty, it must be like Santa's come early! Look at the stupid little Spurs fans; had some success, then didn't know what to do with themselves, so they went and sacked the manager and then appointed a Chelsea reject in order to 'take their club in a new direction'. Yep, the 'new direction' is...back to being fudging brick again. And guess what, Spurs fans go back to getting a boner about 'maybe a nice cup run or winning the Europa League'.

Well fudge that. I won't accept 7th. Or 6th. Or even 5th. AVB better finish at least 4th, and 3rd to justify the change. Or else, it's a failure of Levy's judgement. Simple as that. Harry has the form; as consistent a record as they come. Change for a bricker outcome = failure; a brick, unnecessary change. Laughable that some of you think our star players would accept 7th? No fudging way, they'd be running for the doors and I'd be clapping their ambition for doing so.

So, over to you, Andre: match it, or beat it. Good luck with that sunshine.

This!

People really think Bale and VDV will stick around if we finish 7th?

Hypothetically - if Redknapp had got his dream job and left us in the lurch for England and we had then appointed AVB - what would you have accepted from AVB in those circumstances (i.e Levy reacting to the situation rather than being proactive)?

this is a key point and i think if they were honest those setting 4th or higher as the bar for AVB are doing so because they are reeling that Redknapp has left rather than thinking that is a fair target to put on a new manager.

i think it's both shortsighted and idiotic to base progression purely on league standings from season to season (especially in a new managers first season)

You'll be tinkling yourself that spurs do badly?

Briliant support, right there..

My friend, don't EVER question my support.

But the hilarious actions of the management of our club won't be lost on me either. I could either laugh or cry, and I'm not sad enough to cry over a football club, especially one which makes brick, unnecessary changes.

O'Neill has a far better record. At our gaff he'd dance on Harry's grave. Sheikh hasn't been saying this brick for the past month. Now he wants to build straw men? For me Spurs finish 17th next season I couldn't care less. We don't have that qunt in charge and that's perfect.

I really hope this isn't the case!!

You'd rather finish 17th without redknapp than top 4 with him!

Sorry, I stopped reading at that point.

Beggars belief doesnt it.

Hence my question about at which point do we or can we justify Harrys 'sacking'. One or two think below mid table some think just above it - kinda staggering.

I wouldnt accept lower than 4th.

Oh no!! You won't accept it!!

We finished 8th and 5th as well under Harry. Should he have been fired?

The guy wouldn't sign a new contract. What could Levy do. I don't expect Villas Boas to get 4th next season, just to put things in place for the future.

Sorry, I stopped reading at that point.

Why? Because it is easier to ignore than to examine your motives?

If you can answer that honestly then it would add context and clarity to your position.

Spurs would be in exactly the same boat so it is a fair question - and if the job offer had come Redknapp would have walked without a backwards glance.

So presumably if Redknapp had quit on us you would still judge anything less than 4th as a failure for any new manager.

Yep. Principle. If your bird cheats on you you fudge her off. If she's down the pub flirting with someone else in your hour of need. In a bit.

Or, you look in the mirror and realise you're nothing special?

Some Spurs fans think Tottenham Hotspur is the most amazing thing ever. It isn't. We're at a certain level, and England is above it. Don't have any problems whatsoever with Harry wanting to fulfil what would've been his lifetime ambition.
