Alex Pritchard

Norwich is a bad example as in his 2nd game he broke his metatarsal bone and spent most of the time there on the injury list, unlike the Pritchard loan which has got him more splinters in his arse then minutes played ( Pullis even brought a 16 player off the bench instead of Pritchard in the last game).
My point was more that a bad loan doesn't necessarily mean a bad outcome - he will learn alot by not playing when he should be. It must be frustrating him immensely. But hopefully that will add some resilience and me will learn that when any chance comes along, he has to take it.

yeah there's more to loans than getting on the pitch and being a success - you could even argue that such loans are ill fitting as the player wasn't particularly tested enough and would have learned more in a more difficult situation.

though in this case it does seem a bit of a waste tbf

I understand that I really do however I think he would have learnt more by playing, anyway lets hope that Poch uses him next season and if not he gets a chance to play elsewhere.

Not even on the bench today. Shame he didn't stick around, would've got some minutes for us I'm sure.

I don't think that he would have got many. He would have been behind Onomah and he hasn't featured much of late. The real shame with Pritchard is the early season injury that denied him the chance to stake a claim in the league cup and group stage Europa games where he would have undoubtedly had a chance.

Hmmmm, loan where he didn't much playing time, got an injury, clearly has talent but is border line whether he makes it?
Sounds familiar

Was it on here that someone said that the WBA loan was his decision as they were the only prem team to come knocking??

On the Soccer Saturday panel they were talking about the WBA fans being fed up with Pullis and him not giving attacking players like Pritchard a chance.

Apparently so. I did read (possibly also on here, so not able to quote any other evidence) that we had agreed to a potential loan with Burnley, and I think with another Championship club, and also with WBA, and the final choice was given to Pritchard. Given that he spent last season in the Championship I can see why he would have selected a PL team. But there must have been firm expectation that he would get some game time, otherwise I cannot see why Spurs would have agreed to it at all.
Poch did say at the start of this season, before the injury, that Pritchard was in his plans, so I hope the same applies this coming season for him.

I can understand Pritchard's decision, he bossed the Championship last year and needs something more challenging. I just think that Pullis fed him some brick about getting game time when in actuality he likely never saw Pritchard as anything more than emergency cover in case of a load of injuries to their midfield.

Poor Pritchard, imagine being on loan under the most anti football coach in the league, talk about stunting a player's development

Yes it has to be said that watching WBA live last night does make me wonder what sort of part anyone thought Pritchard might have had to play in that team. I know t was supposedly his choice but I find it hard to see how he could have fit in. Hopefully an injury free pre season back under Poch will kick start his career with us
