World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

Think there has been plenty about the pricing talked about generally and in here.

The full on despotic regime has only really moved beyond a Homer-esque face palm fairly recently and is still, technically, democratic, even if the cowards in the Houses won't actually do anything.

There are no deaths and exploitation of construction workers or human rights abuse associated with the WC specifically.

Also after Russia and Qatar it all a bit inevitable.

Don't think USA is being given an easier ride really just because they are Americans/white/psychotically-religious.

My understanding is that the world cup contract between FIFA and the hosts required free transport to the stadia (as usual), but FIFA relaxed the rule that allows charges at "cost".

The WC has finally morphed into the Super Bowl.

Ludicrous ticket prices, rip off transport costs and an ‘event’ that will last the entire day.

If I wanted to watch hand egg style entertainment I’d watch hand egg style entertainment.

I’ve said it before but I really wish that the powerful European football associations would take back control of the game and remove FIFAs appalling influence. It’s not too late. Yet.

I imagine it's not good for the players either having to take an extended half-time break.

Hopefully their dressing rooms will at least be sound-proofed.

I dread to think what rambling nonsense Trump will spout before handing over the trophy to the eventual winners, as there’s no way he’ll turn down an opportunity to tell a global television audience whatever incoherent nonsense happens to be on his mind at that given moment 🤪

"And players will be able to handle the ball between minutes 55 and 66!"
TBF, 15 minutes is never enough time to buy a pint and drink it at your leisure, so I'm all for this (25 minutes, not bloody Coldplay).

The laws of the game state that half-time is 15 minutes, after which point the referee is entitled to send off Chris Martin, his poxy entourage, and whoever else is illegitimately on the pitch. This would all make the final worth watching.

The halftime break is there for the players and officials. When I played I found a 15 minute break too long, keeping players focused could be a problem and if a player needed more than 15 minutes through injury they should not be going back on the field. I'm sure the losing team will use it as an excuse.
