World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

How Messi didn't get sent off for the studs-on-the-calf challenge in their first game, one cannot explain.
Plus, Embolo: was his 'move' any different to any typical South American in most of the games, especially Argentinians? I'm sure i saw at least one similar theatrical fall like that against Cape Verde where the Cape Verde got a yellow card for it and NO VAR review at all...go figure.

Just looking at the (in)consistencies with how Argentinian matches are refereed and VAR'd is ample to get "conspiracy theories" started
There is a video on SM that shows all the challenges that Egypt made that didn't result in even a foul let alone a card so it literally does go both ways. You probably haven't seen that video and so your narrative already set, but if had watched that video and nothing else you would think that Argentina got cheated in that match.

Embolo got sent off because it 1. Because it was a clear dive and c'mon you can be the most biased person on the planet but you can see the Argentine player doesn't even touch him and he threw himself to the floor before the supposed touch and rolled over and over. He tried to get the Argentine players a yellow which leads into 2. The new directive whereby if a yellow is rescinded for simulation the simulated player will receive the punishment (a good rule) and before you say it yes this same rule was used in an earlier match for the same situation in this very world cup.

The conspiracies started because there is a concerted anti Messi group, basically CR7 fans who have for years ran a social media campaign attacking Messi and anything games he's involved in, questioning his stats, performances, claims of cheating, drugs, bias etc, etc, etc. it's just grown year after year. This isn't a new thing there's actually a media company being paid to insert stories, that's how crazy the competition between these 2 modern greats has actually become. I'm aware of it because a friend of mine is one of the CR7 crazies and has for years been sending some variation of these conspiracies.
