they wouldn't get the opportunities if they weren't - and if Levy means what he says (eye rolls lol) it's how we should be developing them either into our first XI or opportunities outside. I wish I had the balls to follow through all those decades ago...

That’s a great interview. Ange can be pretty guarded and seem disinterested in interviews a lot (he rarely makes eye contact) but he’s absolutely buzzing to be there I feel. I bet he’s pinching himself sitting across from Gary Lineker, one of those players he would have watched with his dad on week-old highlights shows in Australia in the 80s/90s.

Does he really say he “thought he was the last man standing” in Spurs selection process, as the written BBC article suggests? I can’t see the iplayer interview where I am but there’s no mention of it on the bbc website interview. I was under the impression he was contacted very early in the process by Spurs, but that he wouldn’t discuss it until Celtic’s season was done.

He does say that but I don’t think it’s true of the Spurs job. It is definitely of the Celtic job and he elaborates on that a bit (“maybe I should thank Eddie Howe”)

Thanks. The written article says he thought he was “last man standing” this summer, so the Spurs job.
 
I think it was more he knew he wasnt the first choice.

Howe was close to becoming Celtics manager before back room staff issues (i think)
and we were linked with Nagelsmann with a few talks taking place. (obviously not as close as Howe was to Celtic)

Then when both fell through Ange got brought in.

Its also a good reflection on him that although he knows/suspects that, he is still the absolute man he is now around the club which is currently beyond my expectations.

I am sure there will be metldowns and snarks about falling into him but thats football alot of the time, managers have the right to turn jobs down and we have a right to interview who we want.
 
Only my opinion but I'd be surprised if Ange wasn't the first choice / towards the top of the list. Listening to how Levy's spoken over the last few days, it's hard to believe he would have gone for Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann would have been discussed I’m sure
But we parked it after talking to him and realising he is another ego
I read that ETH was interviewed and the club checked in with Martin Jol to understand was he always a dingdong

Probably likely the same with Nagelsmann as ETH, you do your due diligence and work out the breakdown with Bayern where in theory its almost a job for life for the right man, then work out, do we pay for the privilege of someone with that cloud over them? ETH and Nags are similar in that there is a big d1ckhead factor to take on board
