Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

why are we in a position that 'we are in a fight?'
You do realise managers use the word fight beyond a 'relegation fight' right? We are clearly in a tough spot with injuries and performances and you have to fight your way out of it. Just another example of trying to take a managers words who is under pressure and make something out of nothing.....

Because of injuries, mate.

Ok, very unpopular opinion incoming:

Romero, VDV and Vicario are essentially the three starting players we are missing. Forster has done a great job coming in for Vic. Are we really that reliant on VDV and Romero (who has been accused of falling asleep countless times this season) to perform well as a team? Are they all we need to get this train back on track? Really? Sure, we miss players in certain positions, but none of them (bar Bentancur, who hasn't had a great season, tbh) have featured much anyway. We barely use Bergvall, Moore has gotten minutes here and there, Gray has played all over the place, bless him, Spence couldn't get a start if his life depended on it.

It obviously sucks that we now have to use Gray and Dragu in central defense and have knackered players (lack of rotation could explain this bit), but is it really that much of a mitigating factor for the performances we've seen as of late? Really? Or do we just have a poor squad?

Maybe so! What do I know. Maybe so. With a fully fit squad we would obviously be better, but we're never going to have that (especially with how we train, even Ange has admitted as much), practically no team ever have a squad fully fit.

Again, as I've said many times - I hope we and Ange manage to turn this around, I really do, we play exciting football when we're good - we just need to be good more consistently, and certainly not bad as consistently as we have been lately.

Lately? Only my opinion but I think a lot of fans need to wake up to the fact that we've been bad in about 4 out of 5 games since the first ten games of last season.

For me it's simple: teams know how to exploit our tactics but when we click we are still hard to play against and we do score consistently so when we are on form and the other team are a bit off it we can batter someone. But when we are just par and the other team are on their organisation we struggle and are in significant danger of losing.

This explains the disparity in largely poor performances and results punctuated by very impressive wins. Although it should be said that we do give up a lot of chances even in the games we win well...

It's why ONeill is no longer their manager
(And that's quite harsh, I think he's decent - they just have a poor squad with terrible attitudes)
I noticed the 2 Wolves players that we've been linked with, Ait Nourri and Cunha, went wild after the game and tried to fight Ipswich staff. Cunha elbowed some older guy and grabbed his glasses off. Classy scenes.

This isn't the TOTMNU thread, but thought I would mention it somewhere... United were losing 1-0 in the 88th minute in their derby, fans moaning, players playing scared, Amorim perplexed, INEOS trembling in the stands... then Amad wins a pen and then wins the game.

Crazy thing, football. Mad things happen.

Let's see if the talk of Postecoglou being backed actually materialises into action in January...not holding my breath on that one...

I'm not sure what's realistic in January though.

I also have a feeling that the 2 Manchester clubs could get active and start some bidding wars for players we want.

I'd settle for one long term, major signing.

A long-term major signing would be great, especially if one that can give Udogie some very good rotation...we really need another centre-back to cover MVDV AND a bonafide DM too imo, but as i say one would do if it's an Udogie rotation option

Yeah, the last thing we need is to try and stretch a budget over 2 or 3 signings and get it wrong again. Then we're left trying to shift these players down the line under a new manager.

I have a feeling the player we sign will need to be googled by myself anyway

What we need is a left sided CB who play left back or Micky may become that player
I do think it will be one of the youth players we have who will take that role and I’m fine with that. But we haven’t seen them at this level yet
It’s the area of weakness that needs fixing
