Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Oh well too bad, that's what happens when you're a team that finishes in the upper echelon of the league. If you can't cope with it what's the point of qualifying for Europe?

We want to qualify for the CL right? Why bother if we can't with actually playing a midweek game.
I think the point is that it can be difficult and it can take some time adjusting to that. Not that we should just accept that the players can't cope with it.

Luck in City wasn't able to deflect one in off someone's ass? probably
Luck in City had glaring open goal multiple times and didn't take it? not really

Vicario in my opinion made two bid saves, the foot save against Haaland in first half and the one with his chest at near post in 2nd. City took quite a few snap/hurried shots but they were "fudge he should have scored chances"
City had 2.15 xG their chances were of better quality than you're remembering.

Cl you have tue to sat, tue to sun, wed to sun. You have more time to prep for the next game. Also the games are usually played in major cities with airports so easier travel.

I'm not saying it to make excuse for the manager. Have been saying it for years.

They had 23 shots in total. An xG of 2.2

I know xG isn't that telling over a single game and shot numbers can look skewed by teams taking low quality shots from range and such. But still... They really "should" have scored at least once.

5 shots on goal (we had 7 for perspective), they had 24 total, hence the xG, 0.9xG per shot, ours was 0.28 per shot
Their best opportunities were from outside box and wide/angle, look how much more central ours were

CL is easier travel and rest wise

Should they?
That is less that 0.1 per shot
That’s weak IMO and shows that we limited them to very little quality chances knowing they are the team that gives up the highest quality chances

The chance Haaland had in I think the 5th minute on his left foot when he was left in acres of space that he scuffed wide should have in the minimum been on target and a goal realistically. That was their best chance of the game and a strike of his quality absolutely should be scoring that one.

I think their best chance was the one around the 80th minute that Vicario made a good save from Haaland on

Haaland gets so many chances but his conversion isn’t very consistent
City’s issues is he is 55% of their goals currently

He's elite/brilliant but he isn't Kane (or even Son on a conversion rate)

Very interestingly saw someone go after Pep for recent transfers, both in and out, Grealish, Doku, Gundogan (coming back), Savinho with Mahrez, Palmer, Concelo going out ..

Never understood why City didn't go all out for Kane & Son (he's what Pep has been looking for with Sterling/Grealish/Doku) 3 or 4 years ago.

That is what I said about 18 months ago
They sold goals and brought creativity
Issue is the creativity is samey and not very good at passing

Giving up 2+ xG isn’t sustainable.

That number needs to regularly be near zero.

Great result, but our main issue was still evident.

Son I understand, his fine touch and technique isn't at the level Pep would want. He wouldn't be as effective in a classical Pep system. Kane though, yeah he was a perfect fit. I guess after they didn't get him that first time they saw the opportunity of Haaland on the horizon and went for him. Truthfully given what they won in that time it's hard to argue they went down the wrong path. I think there problems are more so not having a real viable alternative to Rodri and not replacing what Mahrez, Alvarez and even a degraded Sterling gave them.
