Rocket company SpaceX will make a second attempt in the coming hours to get Nasa astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken into orbit.

Their flight to the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday was postponed because of poor weather at Florida's Kennedy Space Center.

Saturday's forecast is not brilliant. The meteorologists say conditions will probably be touch and go again.

The lift-off is scheduled for 15:22 EDT (19:22 GMT; 20:22 BST).

For skywatchers in the UK, the Saturday flight is less favourable for catching sight of the capsule coming overhead. The first pass following lift-off comes when conditions are too light (just after 20:40 BST). The second pass, at around 22:15 BST, is better, but the vehicle will be very low on the horizon in the southwest

Worth reading up on the Fermi Paradox on this issue, very interesting. Basically comes down to a few simple points (but there's more that can be expanded upon)

1) we are alone in the universe which is pretty crazy
2) we are the most advanced civilization in the universe... also crazy given our star system relatively young
3) An advanced race has come and gone, or just leave us to it, maybe they're far beyond our species in terms of evolution

In any scenario, it's just remarkable to think. If we are not alone, how comes there is no evidence of another life form given how we bang out satellites and things all over the place.

Should have clarified, it's highly likely some other form of life exists. It wasn't Hubble but one of the satellites found around 1 in every 5 suns in our galaxy have at least one planet in a 'habitable' zone, not too close, not too far. Chances of some bacteria or some other form of life therefore can be extrapolated if water exists knowing that's how we came about.

But i guess the point is of Fermi, is we could be the most intelligent life in the entirety of the universe. And given there's people on Earth who think the Earth is flat, that is worrying indeed.

There's also other things, like i mentioned our galaxy and solar system is relatively young in the universe. Given what we have seen of life forms on this planet, territories, colonisation etc, it's remarkable to think if there was a more superior life form out there, they would surely have attempted to conquer Earth (i know we're going into crazy territory now). Given that has not happened, maybe no one else smarter exists.
 
I’m not sure there is a correlation between being a superior intellect and conquering other planets. There might be a train of thought that their intellect regard the idea of conquering creates more issues than the route of good. Earth is a good example of that

a) They wouldn't be able to get to Earth in any sensible timescale - you ignore the incredible distances in the vastness of space

b) Intelligent civilisations probably only exist for a few thousand years before they self destruct - you ignore the incredible timescales involved in the evolution of space

The chances of a civilisation being intelligent enough, and able to reach us, and co-existing at the same "millisecond" of space time are tiny.

It's not my point, it's Fermi's. And in the paradox, various options exist, so maybe read up and write some points back to Fermi (he died in 1954 so don't expect a response).

All of your "counter" points are explained in various books or videos. It's not saying there's an answer (hence why it's a paradox), it just poses additional questions as to our place in the universe.

I do believe there are other intelligent life forms in the universe, but I don't believe they've visited earth, or have the capability to do so. If they did have, why aren't there any good captures of it? Everyone and their grandmother are using their goddamned phones filming and taking pictures of one another all the damn time, and no one has yet filmed an alien or an alien space craft (or a ghost, for that matter). I'd just like to see some credible footage, preferable from multiple angles and verified by multiple sources before believing, but I'm not holding my breath.

Not saying it's 100% out of the question, I just don't see it as very likely.

What's the counter point to the second one. Heard that one repeatedly and it seems like a plausible factor.
