U23s, Academy and Loanees

He's a very good footballer at that level and added stability and physicality to midfield. Over the years we have a few such players in that midfield role who aren't quite good enough for PL but help in the development of others. The current U21 team are coming to term with the step up from U18 and it will take this season to see how they progress, the current team would benefit from him being there with them.
 
Canaries much better in the 2nd half and Iroh, our 15yo keeper (younger brother of our U21 striker) made some good/great saves in the second half, but was then just beaten at the near post by a grubber - likely expecting something to the open half of the goal. Their keeper fudged up, the sun was low but it was behind him so no excuse for a short pass to our guy for the 3rd.

3-1, and 3rd place.
 
Academy are 3 down at half time.
I'm guessing they are missing a few key players who are with the first team just now.

Scarlett is starting today.
 
I was wondering if Scarlett would have started vs Rangers, if he was at Spurs rather than Oxford. I think he might have. Therefore I wondered if he would be recalled.

Hope so.

But they need to be paying for us.

Between the cups and Europe, we have plenty of games to give them.

If Romero leaves, I would be happy with the remaining 4.

Rather recall Veliz to be honest.

We spent 20 mill on him, played less than 40 mins, got a goal.

The guy needs a chance, not brick loans, to brick clubs...

How is he supposed to adjusy to the PL, if he is not gettong time in the PL, cups or Europe.

I guess the flip side is that Veliz then sits alongside Lanks and neither of them get meaningful playing time.

I always find it interesting that once a player gets promoted into the 1st team, they don't get to feature in our U21's. Probably because the phasing of training and matches are different and it's not practical.

The good news is that Scarlett and Veliz are on the pitch at this phase of their career.
