Transfer Tittle-Tattle

Metro reporting Utd are interested in Dier.

I’m not sure how I feel about this, Dier hasn’t really performed for a couple of seasons now obviously his injuries this season have impacted his form, but the guy only has 2 years left on his contract, so if Utd stump up a good offer I wouldn’t be too disappointed if the club accepted.

I think we need to see next season if he's recovered from his illnesses and fatigue. For me on his day he's still one of the best DMs in the world. This coming season we need to assess if his recent form is a blip, or a symptom of something more long-term.

He also seems quite key to squad dynamics/leadership

And we shouldn't be strengthening our top 6 rivals, and Dier would strengthen them massively.

"One of the best DMs in the world" really is pushing it a bit far, but fair play it's your opinion. However I do agree that we should be giving him another season to see if he can sort his injuries and form out. On his day he can be extremely effective and is one of the better fighters we have in the dressing room.

He does need to cut out some of the silly errors that seem to have crept into his game though. It's well documented that last season the midfield generally were all over the place. No consistency in line-up due to injury, players dipping in and out of form, not picking up where they left off previous season. Dembele going, Wanyama crocked, Dier always ill, Winks out for periods, Dele and Eriksen playing deeper than we'd all like.

Words I never thought I'd utter.... but thanks Glenn we had Sissoko!!!

So going forwards next season, I still think it's imperative we sign N'Dombele and get him alongside Sissoko, the two would be beasts in midfield and both can drive forwards positively.
Dier then makes for a good option to slot in for either when necessary/rotating.
Winks offers us a bit more security in ball retention and guile.
Dele and Eriksen (or other?) can return to their more attacking roles.
Wanyama becomes the one to move on elsewhere.

We HAVE to get Tanguy in. I had hoped it would have happened last summer. Let's not miss the boat again!

Edit: I still don’t think he’ll make a good enough central defender due to his positioning and slow acceleration.

Im a huge fan of Dier and Id be loathe to sell him, but he is in that awkward spot of contract length where its "sign or go for a good offer".

Undeniably he hasnt been his best for a while. I do believe there are many reasons for it, not least fatique, and I really would prefer he stay and rediscover his best form.

Player ‘very close’ to signing for Tottenham after talks ‘intensified’ in recent hours
By Sport Witness Team -

7th June 2019

There’s some disagreement in Portugal today over Bruno Fernandes, which isn’t a rare occurrence.

A Bola have a big splash explaining Manchester United are willing to pay €70m plus a further €10m in bonuses, whereas Tottenham want him for €68m.

Sporting obviously prefer the higher figure, and it was stated the player’s agent Miguel Pinho has been travelling between Portugal and England to try and build a deal with one of them.

Record have it differently.

They claim talks have ‘intensified’ in recent hours with Tottenham, and the player is now ‘very close’ to signing for the London club.

Record say Pinho arrived in the English capital on Thursday and spoke to Spurs, hearing from them what he expected to… that they’re ready to meet Sporting’s demand of €70m+.

The whole slant is that Tottenham are making this move because Christian Eriksen is close to signing for Real Madrid, so if that isn’t true then perhaps this isn’t either.

It’s stated the Danish international’s move is ‘imminent’, which certainly isn’t something reflected by the Spanish media or in Denmark.

Despite stating Bruno is ‘very close’ to the transfer, Record say ‘the race isn’t won yet’ because Manchester United and Liverpool remain keen. However, those clubs are ‘at a disadvantage compared to Spurs, who have already materialised their interest.’

There’s every chance Bruno is Tottenham’s option to replace Eriksen, and perhaps Manchester United interest was dependent on Paul Pogba’s future.

Is this guy that good? I know literally nothing about him.

Know nothing of him other than he has been massively hyped up the last few months (no doubt due to the United links)

I doubt we'd ever often play Ndombele and Sissoko together very much. They do pretty much the same role. You'd want to pair one with a more static player - either a passer like Winks or a holder like Dier.

"Manchester United to announce Bruno Fernandes signing after Nations League final"...according to the Manc Evening News. Fernandes, who scored or assisted 50 goals in 53 appearances last season in the Primeira Liga. :D

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are both reported to be keen on signing Toulouse midfielder Ibraham Sangare this summer.

French news outlet L’Equipe are reporting that the Premier League pair have identified the 21-year-old who operates as a holding midfielder.

Sangare stands at 6ft 3in and is said to be content to stay at the Ligue 1 side for another season to continue his footballing development after joining from Ivory Coast outfit AS Denguele three years ago.

He caught the eye this season having made 28 appearances and providing two assists whilst finding the back of the net on one occasion.

Tottenham are lacking a holding midfielder following the sale of Mousa Dembele to China in January while Victor Wanyama has struggled with respective knee issues over the course of the past two seasons.

He is said to be available for around the €20million to €25million (£17.75million and £22.2million) mark but is reluctant to swap regular first-team football at Toulouse for a squad place at a Premier League side where opportunities to play could be limited.

Opinion

Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama’s injury and illness issues this season certainly put a strain on the pairing of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko in the middle of midfield.

There is no doubt that Spurs need another number in that position but it remains to be seen if Levy will sanction a big money move for a proven player such as Ndombele, or instead try to pay a lower fee for the likes of Sangare and hope for the best.

Bruno Fernandes had an absolutely amazing season, but whether or not he can translate that type of form in England is the risk. From reading around, some people think it's a feint by us in order to have Betis soften their stance on Lo'Celso, a feint by Sporting to get UTD to up their bid or completely true with us sneaking in under the radar.

He looks really lively in his highlight vid, not afraid to put his foot in when asked to defend either.

I would absolutely believe that.

Of the two I think Lo Celso looks much more the part for our team.

Betis buy him cheap, know they can sell high and probably strengthen with 2 buys.
We want him, make pretty decent offer
Naturally they want more, push it, see if they can get lucky (you would, wouldnt you?)
Conveniently a story arises of us pursuing another player at similar money to what we offer...

...At some point we check back in on Betis and maybe they are more willing to talk

Seems like we're after any guy on two legs who can kick a ball - it's 2013 all over again. I need TP for my bunghole. :p :D

Notts County have confirmed that young forward Kion Etete has joined Tottenham Hotspur.

The 17-year-old, who has been at Notts since the age of 14, enjoyed a successful trial at Hotspur Way earlier this year, impressing sufficiently to attract a bid from the Champions League finalists.

Etete, who follows in the recent footsteps of Dongda He (Wolves) and Jack Bearne (Liverpool) in progressing from Notts’ academy to earn a move to the Premier League, made his senior debut against Saudi Sportswashing Machine’s Under 21s in last season’s Checkatrade Trophy before going on to make a further five appearances for the Magpies.

He leaves with the club’s best wishes for the future.

The Club can confirm the departure of Michel Vorm following the conclusion of his contract.

Michel, 35, joined us from Swansea City in July, 2014, and went on to make 47 appearances in all competitions.

The Dutch international goalkeeper, capped 15 times for his country, proved to be a valuable member of the squad both on and off the pitch.

We wish Michel every success in the future.

The Club can also confirm the departures of Development Squad players Dylan Duncan, Charlie Freeman, Tom Glover, Connor Ogilvie and Jamie Reynolds.

We wish them all the best in the next stage of their careers.

We are pleased to confirm that Japhet Tanganga and Jack Roles have signed new contracts with the Club until 2020 and 2021 respectively, whilst striker Kion Etete has joined from Notts County.

Etete, 17, made six first team appearances for The Magpies in 2018/19 and will join our Academy set-up.

WOW.....thats us!

I reckon (always a good start to a transfer related post) that if Geueye or however you spell it goes to PSG then Wanyama could be a cracking replacement andat the right price that would work for both clubs, I don't want to sound like I'm throwing him in the scrap heap but sometimes it just seems like a change of scenery can help, a fresh start with hopefully an uninterrupted pre season, I'd like to see him at his best again but it doesn't seem likely with us.

If his problem is injuries, then I don't think a change of scenery would help much. If it really is getting over whatever is nagging him, I would hope he can be at his best again with us and not someone else.

Would Teji Savanier be a good alternative target? Was excellent last season and could be good Wanyama replacement.

Diers missed a lot of football this season but I wouldn’t put him in the Wanyama or Lamela permacrock category as he’s had two non football related issues. He’s done enough to warrant a full pre season to prove himself and his ability to cover a few positions gives us the chance to have another attacking option on the bench.
