Transfer thread

I've been pretty on the fence with Levy/Board till now, think some of the stuff aimed at him is unfair, but I'm done with him (board) now we need to get rid, this window is feeble.

This was a chance to reset the club and we've done nothing of note

Zero interest in trying to kick on, would have thought we would have learnt from the CL final loss, seemingly not.

Welcome aboard!

This window is becoming increasingly frustrating, barely any real movement in or out when what is needed for both should have been fairly obvious.

Had we brought in MGW i'd be reasonably content so far with seeing 3 first team options coming in (kudus + MGW + Palinha) but having seen our movement stall since then, compounded by the loss of Maddison, then a different picture is forming.

It’s why the club has to react

We've brought in 3. Made 2 more permanent. Had about 10 go out so far sold/loaned.

A player I used to rate and can’t work out why it’s failed at Chelsea is Nkunku
I wonder if there should a deal to be made there
Does seem to be fragile but they need to ship out players to make way for Garnacho

I'm not convinced Takai is going to threaten the first team squad in the immediate - the deals made permanent were required to stand still in those areas so not really of importance in the discussion wrt progressing the squad/team forwards from last season.

Richarlison should be out the door by now and replaced, one of Bentancur or Bissouma should be getting moved on & upgraded - Maddison should have been getting competition/upgraded, Udogie should have some competition - we've put a transfer department in place so the lack of action is concerning to me wrt how they are going about their roles

Takai wasn't put on the loan list. Is a full international.

OK then - could be that he's seen as more ready than I think or with Dragusin still on the road to recovery he's being kept around as additional cover until Jan when we will reevaluate. Either way a 4th/5th choice CB doesn't change the sentiment.

Edit : oh he's injured

I think it is safe to say that relying on him as our 3rd/4th CB is a gamble. Can we really afford to be getting lost in gambles if we seriously want to compete this season? I think it is best we all get back in our lane and re-evaluate expectations based on the last few years and not the month of May 2025.

Losing 2-0 at home to Palace, 2-0 away to Villa and 4-1 at home to Brighton?

Tbf he would be 5th/6th choice given the crop of Romero/Dragusin/VDV/Danso plus Davies
