Transfer thread

They can open a bank account for the player in their country snd fill it full of money. Or get one of the companies they own to do some marketing with the player paying huge amounts for a couple of photos.
None of it could be traced back to Saudi Sportswashing Machine if they don't leave an email trail that can be hacked.
Mbappe got paid a fortune (£125m+) to be qatars ambassador for their world cup. Why do you think he put off joining madrid for a year?
You can only do so much before raising eyebrows. And Saudi Sportswashing Machine are in no position given their revenues to pull off something like this to the extent needed to fill their squad with the types of players that will win them major trophies.

If they could do what you're suggesting, you'd already be seeing them competing with Chelsea and City and Liverpool for top talent. As I said, they'll get there, but it's going to take a few years and some organic growth.

Transfer fees and wages are two different things.

City, psg, chelsea don't have fan bases. Compared to utd, liverpool, barca or madrid. Yet compete.

If you want more money quicker so you can retire and enjoy your life with your loved ones then that's just fine. It's a totally individual choice. People saying they wouldn't do that is fine. But criticising that choice is pretty odd in my view.

Honestly I get the money side of things but why not play out career at the very top for as long as you can and then go milk it. The money that the players earn is already life changing. It’s bizarre but I guess the flip side is that they got into football as they had natural ability but always wanted the money and lifestyle. What do I know I’m 9 pints deep
I'd say that most got into football initially because they enjoyed it. For some the money and lifestyle could be a reason they stuck at it.

Probably right for the majority… however I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the states and India … there are a lot of people that get into sports to try to escape poverty.
