Transfer thread

Because it's only obvious in hindsight, and was he a player Ange wanted? Probably 10 players 2 years ago that were on the brink of breakthrough, where are they now?

We can afford 70M, if he was the right guy in summer, do it early, do it at the price asked or even more (United overpay for everyone but still manage to get players while with a brick manager and not in Europe, and yes, I get they are United).

Saudi Sportswashing Machine, City, Liverpool, Scum, Chelsea have all gone out for that 70M+-100M+ player in last couple of years, we seem stuck in the 60M range for our top players, we can't compete all the time but we badly need 1 or 2 of those, we can rely on the Xavi/Bergvall/Odobert/Gray signings with the hope they all come good
But it's not hindsight, he looked a good player, not an exceptional one 2 years ago. That's when you jump on those players. You don't wait for them to become widely recognised as great before you try and get them, by the time they are even recognised as £70m purchase they are already a little bit beyond our reach.

It's either we push the boat out with reportedly we weren't willing to do in the summer or we aggressively identify actual quality ready to breakthrough players and go for them and I'm not talking about a player like Tel who isn't that.

Remember I told you United are ambitious, they go for it. We never do.

From ESPN:

Tottenham are in the market for a new winger and have made contact over former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry, who is now at Bayern Munich, according to Bild. Spurs need a forward to replace Brennan Johnson, who joined Crystal Palace at the start of the window, and Mohammed Kudus, who is out until April through injury. The club are also tracking Al Ittihad winger Moussa Diaby, as reported by The Independent and are one of eight clubs considering a move for Raheem Sterling after the former Chelsea and Arsenal winger became a free agent, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The owners are really really committed (I can’t remember if it was 2 really’s or 3), but let Mbuemo and Cunha go to Utd when they had no European football and we had just beaten them to a major trophy and have Champions League football. And also went for Bowen’s understudy and not Bowen.

Maybe we need 4 or 5 really’s to get those better players.
