Transfer thread

The 4 I was keen on (from and attacking perspective) are Bowen, Mbuemo, Delap, and Cunha.

Seems like Utd are in for Cunha and Mbuemo even though they can’t even pay the dinner lady. Yet we’ve secured CL football and nothing mentioned. Can only hope there is some work being done privately/in the background.
Jeezuz wept! It's all just gossip and speculation! We haven't heard about any of our recent signings until literally the day they signed.
Why do people still read this stuff and believe everything?

Do you think with CL football we could get an Osimhen or Gyokeres or would they still be out of our league?

Are they even that good? Osimhen is linked with the PL continuously but sounds like he might have an attitude problem and same Gyokeres is always linked with a move back here, not clear if he looks good in a weak league or the price is too hight.

I'd stick with Delap - younger, cheaper and has PL experience and a high ceiling.

I've been thinking about Delap and wonder if he's actually any good? Is he being overhyped again because he's English?
His second half of the season, i barely remember him at all and wonder if defenders at the top level have already figured him out...

Am i being harsh here?

Gyokeres has almost 100 goals in his 2 seasons at Sporting!. Including 6 in 8 in the CL this season. He had 21 and 17 for Coventry in the Championship

Delap scored 3, 1 and 8 goals in his 3 Championship loans he had before his 12 goals for Ipswich this year.

They are light years apart.

But I don't think we could afford him anyway. I wonder what position any new coach would consider his priority? I don't it would be a forward, Unless he really doesn't rate Solanke.

You and me both.

In my case, it's more about not watching him that much though.

I think it comes down to who can actually afford him full stop

think most clubs will be restricted on transfers this year due to ffp

I make us/chelsea/arsenal about the only clubs that can afford him and he would consider in the PL

Just realised that Dane Scarlett turned 21 in March. Ange said that there would be no more loans for him.

That means we actually have another club trained player for the UEFA squad.
Was the no more loans just in relation to when he came back from Oxford. So just Jan window?

He will hardly play, so he'd just be a squad filler. Him going on the home grown quota doesn't free up a space from the list of 17. We need how grown players that are in (contention to be in) the starting 11, not just fill it with players that will only play 10 minutes occasionally.

Yeah, with how his last few loans went well said he was staying with us for the rest of the season.

Might want to go somewhere where he will be fist choice though.
With the amount of games being played there is plenty of minutes for a new striker

Plus how many games did solanke miss out last year?

The way I see it,

1) There will be 17 regardless of buying / selling etc. We won't waste these main slots.

2) There will be 4 association trained slots used (the max), and probably other AT players in (1)

3) Whiteman will leave. Our only club trained players left will be Austin and Scarlett unless I'm mistaken.

4) Our list B will be quite healthy but cannot include U21's Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Yang, Vuskovic etc because they haven't been at the club for 2 years. We surely can't put all of them in (1) as it will leave our main pot too inexperienced.

So based on your feeling, it could be quite the frustrating season for Scarlett as he'll be our rainy day squad filler. I can appreciate it was tough for other young guys like KWP and Tanganga as well when they made up the numbers. Phillips, Devine and Donley could realistically be in the same boat.

As this transfer window unfolds, I guess we learn more. It's only (1) where we can only displace those 1st team purchases you mention.

What's funny is United being fudging stupid as usual

Being in for Cunha, Mbeumo & Delap (at the prices indicated) is good business for them. Having every United club reporter telling the world about it? not so much, all of those players (especially Mbeumo) will have options that include European football

We won't have a lot to spend. Our EPL prize money has dropped £40m this year, so the future CL income only slightly above breaks even.
Give over.... As has been pointed out several times already, what we made in our Cup runs this season compared to last season has made up for what we have lost in terms of PL prize money.

Next season our CL money is very unlikely to be lower than our Europa money this season and our PL prize money is also very unlikely to be any lower than our PL prize money this season.
