Transfer speculation

I know a couple of Mancs, real ones, not from Surrey, and rumour is they have no real interest in rose. It's all just a destabilising ploy and pay back for rebuffing them on dier.Rose has been dumb enough to fall for it.
Things really don't work like this in football.... It is a bit like the 'smokescreen' nonsense that sometimes gets spouted.

Sanchez is very highly rated - a fast, ball-playing, athletic centre-back for whom the sky's the limit, in terms of potential. But he's also right-footed - and his profile is such that he'll probably expect a starting place straight away (otherwise, no reason to move to us from Ajax - he's talented enough to just make the jump up to Barca or somewhere straight away in 2019 or so, provided he keeps developing).

It's interesting. If we get him, it isn't because he'd replace Wimmer - he would probably start for us in the RCB slot that Dier currently occupies. Which subsequently begs the question, where does Dier go?
To the bench.

We're a bit beyond having one player per position especially as we might play 60 games next year. There's enough game time for Sanchez, Dier and Wimmer

Also if we are precious about not buying players who might relegate a current first team starter to the bench then we will never improve enough to win the league. ANY player that we can sign who could start for us is one that we should go all out for. Those sorts of players are few and far between and most will be out of our price range both in terms of transfer fee and wages.

But what is he Pape Cheikh Diop aka PCD going to be like on a wet Wednesday at Stoke?

Or is a bit presumptuous to start asking these incisive fan type rubbish questions?

To the bench.

Don't think he'd be particularly happy with that, though - going from being linked with United to riding the bench through no real fault of his own.

I agree, we need the depth. I'd be very happy with this if it comes off - just wondering where we fit Dier into this, and how we replace Wimmer (if that indeed is our plan) given that Sanchez is a right-footer.

Isn't competition for places making players raise their game what we want and what we need to make the next step?

Then he works harder in training, plays better on the pitch, retains his place and the other fella's on the bench instead. Either way the club wins.

Keeping Dier (or anyone) happy is not the clubs primary aim, winning matches and titles is. Rose spoke about the competition that him and Walker had pushing them to perform even better. Let's have that same story across all positions.

I read the same from Danny in the sun recently. Players like competition, especially big name players.

It's just excuses to get what they Want, one of walkers reasons for leaving was rotation with trippier. What's the point in competition for places when you bitch you can't get every game.
And why then ask for a move to a bigger club with even resources and less chance for a game.
It's about cold hard cash, nothing more, nothing less. I think a lot of people would accept it and move on much quicker if the players just admitted it.

Walker's (real) reason for leaving is between 2 and 3 times his old salary to play for a team who I think are the bookmakers tip for the title.
