Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

better than Moutinho.

A bit more Hollywood in terms of defence splitting passes, but doesn't do as much ball recycling and isn't as defensively competent.

I'd be very pleased with him though. He Sandro and Dembele would be an awesome CM trio.

If he was to play alongside Dembele and Sandro I'd assume he would be given the most creative/attacking role of the three irrespective of whether Dembele was as advanced as him or was to form a double-pivot with Sandro with Pjanic in front, so he would end up playing between the lines a fair bit anyway. Obviously I have no idea how suited he would be to playing deeper, especially in the Premiership where pressure in midfield is intense and very physical, but if he is hardworking and a capable passer he sounds like the sort of player we're looking for. #10 is an out-dated position now anyway, I expect (hope) any young midfielder nowadays will be coached to play far more dynamic roles.

The only player I can envisage playing off the striker with any regularity next season is Bale. I have a feeling we will use 4-3-3 with Bale coming in from the right as our regular tactic next year. A CM three without many goals in them but with a lot of industry and creativity (the latter we currently lack), a front 3 with pace, strength and plenty of goals between them (we currently lack 2 of these players...).

Villa----Leandro----Bale

--------Pjanic
---Sandro----Dembele

looks pretty breathtaking to me.

Pjanic tends to be more CM than AM, no? Not a prolific goalscorer (4 in 27) but more creative than our current CMs. The lack of final product wouldn't be an issue if we bought a wide playmaker like Bernard (please GHod PLEASE [-o<) so we'd have two main goalscorers in Bale (RWF) and whoever our central forward is (Leandro/Villa), and creative players in Bernard (LAM) and Pjanic's ilk (the "passer" of the midfield three).

That'd be a mesmerizing window for incomings, actually. A striker, a creative mid, and a playmaker. Maybe add a LB, a young forward who can cover WF like Rebic and we'd be set. Hell, I'd be happy with just Bernard, since I'm still so upset at missing out on Oscar and Isco.

I've been wondering about something for a while now. Since the Levenson enquiry and the media being scrutinised to be more accurate with their stories, if Spurs, Monace and the player all dismissed the rumours as rubbish, could we, or any party involved, sue?

Surely could be one way to stop nonsense rumours circulating

Probably a discussion for another thread but all clubs use leaking information to the press to help sell and buy players. The same as players and their agents use the press to get improved terms at their current club or engineer a transfer. Clubs will also trade information with sympathetic journalists in return for favourable coverage. Given this, who would suing benefit?

Funny someone mentioned Bernard - His club (Athletic Mineiro) chairman stated that a number of clubs are in contact about him and an English club is closest to getting him, widely thought to be us

Edit: Should have read link above..

been saying we should be signing him, but I've heard Emirates Marketing Project are the closest?

I'm always impressed by the level of knowledge some of you have of players worldwide.

I've been a Spurs fan for 25 years and can just about name our squad. And that Beckham bloke...

Me too... I get the impression that some of the usual suspects watch football for about 8 hours a day... if there is a game on in an obscure league, then you can rely on Mumorn to be watching! :)

Just play Football Manager for a few months and your knowledge will be up there with the best ;)

I only watch Dutch (some games), Brazilian (some games), Serie A, Bundesliga (Favourite) and La Liga (like most). They are usually free streams on Bet365 though so that's why. A load of time through out the season on ESPN too. I just make sure I look out for games with some of the best prospects in the world playing in.

You should apply for a job as a scout
