Transfer fred.

They are my local team and I wish them well. But some around Brighton are getting to excited, how often does it happen that clubs do well for a few years and think that it will always continue, think Southampton, Leicester.

Brighton need Emirates Marketing Project, Chelsea and now Necastle all doped to fail. Then clubs with big revenues like Man u, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs to all be in a period of flux or transition.

We all know what will happen
- Small club gets a combination of owner investment, manager and recruiting right
- Gets up the league in surprise season, threatens for European spot
- End of season sells some of the high rated players
- Buys new players and either
1/New players work and another decent season happens
2/New player don't team reverts to norm
- Regardless of 1,2 within 2-3 years cycle reverts to norm, signings no longer as great, club struggles to stay out of relegation zone
- Within 2 more years, club is relegated.

This brick has been going on since the beginning of the PL, Charlton under Curbs was a early example.

What hilarious is each time people behave like someone found a magic wand, that they figured it out, it's good decision plus luck/timing, it all evens out in the end.

I think what you say is true. To sustain something in this league is hard. To move up thru the levels is harder. They are in that selling club phase that they will have to shake at some point if they want to extend beyond 'best of the rest'.

I think some clubs get extra attention because the football they play is attractive as well (remember when everyone loved Swansea?). As you do I wish them well, as being local to them as well (not as local now) I vividly remember the Withdean days:(

The Bloom dog and Barber are a good pair. Blooms a smart cookie and is willing fund the club with little necessity of being payed back.

I think they are bloody brilliant and people expecting it to go wrong and being a bit naive
Their model is smarter than than any of the clubs above them
They have a multi club structure to develop players
And they will attract players others won’t because they have a system and philosophy

Any home grown player will be, particularly if they have a couple years of PL experience and 23 years old
Exactly, think we have so much work to do at CB and GK that I’d want most of our budget to go there. I know we need an AM as well but you can pick up someone like Pereira at Fulham for not too much and he’d do a job for a bit.
We just can’t neglect CB and GK any longer.

They paid 17m apparently. So yeah, he will.
Guess it a choice between someone like him and Danjuma for 27m (I think that's his clause) and how close to ready Devine or Scarlett are to bring squad ready

There's also Eze who is coming along nicely, looks a really good player. Olise looks decent too.

Alex Scott has got about as close as one can get to a 'come and get me' plea without getting into trouble with Bristol City....

"Alfie Devine, who I now play with for England, is probably one of my closest mates. Being a Spurs fan I remember when he scored against Marine at 16. I was watching that with my dad at home and thinking: ‘He’s going to be the next one to come through at Spurs.’ Now I’m best mates with him at England level. That in itself is surreal for me."

Olise barely scores though. I think he only has 3 or 4 goals since he joined Palace 2 years ago. In fact with Eze, Olise and Zaha it's strange that they are such a low scoring side.

Hold on, does he mean he (i.e. Alex Scott) is a Spurs fan??
