The ITK of IDK
True. Winks and Carroll would probably have been a bit too lightweight.I guess Mason, Bentaleb, Dembele and to a lesser extent Pritchard happened.

I could not disagree more with this statement.
I think this argument has gone off on a few tangents but to me the question is a simple one. Do you play your strongest team versus Ar5ena1 whatever the competition and IMO the answer is always yes. Is the CC more or less importation than other competitions? I don't care. I want to beat them pure and simple.
I understand this viewpoint and it's one hold too 99% of the time. The only exceptions I make are when we play Arsenal or Chelsea. I just want to beat them.I do understand where you are coming from but i disagree, I want us to field our strongest side in all cup competitions because I want to see us win a trophy and I amsick to death with this obsession of finishing among the losers ( top four).

I want us to use our squad in the most efficient manner across the season, where we finish and what (if any) silverware we end up with will be by products of that.

Serious question
- You really feel we needed to rotate our squad yesterday? for one game in September
- You feel playing Lloris would have had any impact on any later game in season?

Of course Lloris playing wouldn't effect him later in the season, I think you're micro analysing things too much - it's important for back ups/rotational players to get game time so when/if they are called upon they have some experience in the team to draw upon - Early UEFA/League Cup games are the ideal games to give them that experience
Good point, but it seems to me that we are obsessed with finishing in the top four instead of winning trophys which is my point.

And that money/CL qualification attracts better players, which makes us more likely to win stuff. That's where the money is, so that is the criteria managers are judged against.
So do I, but if we lost both games in the Prem to the Arse but won a trophy at the end of the season I would be happy with that. We should have fielded a better side last night but not because it was the Arse specifically but because its a trophy we should have been looking at as one we could win.
You don't rotate players because they are tired, you rotate to prevent that.
Which i think is valid in the QF or SF, perhaps not in the 1st round. Not being difficult but which games would you have rested players in?
Qarabag = We hadnt won a game yet in the season
Stoke = We hadnt won a game in the league and would have dropped into bottom 3 had we not have won
Palace = Where is took everything we had to win and going in i didnt think we would
Ar5ena1 = Carling Cup 1st round where they were also resting players
Man C = Top of the league team where we need a performance at top of our game to get near them
That's where the money is, so that is the criteria managers are judged against.
The City game.
