Re: Northumberland Development Project
I would rank that Spurs source quote alongside AVB, for instance, claiming last summer that we weren't interested in signing Hugo Lloris.
People at the club (and at other clubs and other companies, for that matter) are quite prepared to lie when it suits them - especially if they're trying to keep sensitive negotiations from public scrutiny.
Keirle, on the other hand, has no good reason to lie about this latest info. He might even enjoy making life a little uncomfortable for Spurs by prematurely spilling the beans on what's going on behind the scenes. Don't forget that we first heard about Populous taking over our stadium project through Keirle's original reply to RMB2007 (poster on Skys****ercity who emailed him). That info has subsequently been confirmed as true. So this new info has real weight and credibility, IMO.
I've never been convinced by the explanation that the change in architect was about nothing more than internal fit out. Didn't make sense to me. After all, everyone who's seen the new training centre (also designed by KSS) has confirmed that the level of finish is simply stunning. So I just don't buy the idea that KSS couldn't have delivered a market leading level of quality at the new stadium as well or that Spurs couldn't have worked with them to change whatever they wished to change about the original internal fit out plans.
It might be that Populous are working on two or three different options for the new stadium and that Keirle is only referring to one of those. But I would guess that major, not cosmetic, changes are afoot and that it's now highly likely that we will see an entirely new stadium design as and when Spurs are finally ready to make an announcement.
I don't think that is the case anymore. If there still is a limit then Wembley could just give up some slots from their concert schedule if the NFL brought in more money. An NFL season is only 8 games plus the playoffs.
More significantly, wasn't there an announcement from the club not long ago saying there wouldn't be a redesign? Doesn't quite fit with that email from KSS does it.
