Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Well Sherwood Haters are gonna hate........

I think its conceivable for us to get a result there.....it really could be a massive tipping point this season....I dont think we need to go there with any fear...... yep I know if we lose the hate wagon will gather momentum again......I did say I can only hope that he starts getting judged minus the pre-conceived views on him that some have.

It could. Im optimistic but im also wary that our defence is still suspect and it just looks so so flaky. They will be playing inbetween the lines etc So it will need Capoue and Dembele I think.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I don't have any faith that Sherwood is going to be successful however I also think he's on a hiding to nothing. By that I mean that I think we only have a small chance of getting top 4 this season (given that Man C and cheatski are nailed on to get 2 of the places with **** looking good for a third spot) and, with Van Gaal waiting in the wings, the only way he saves his job is to finish 4th, or perhaps a valliant failure and finishing 5th

Realistically I see us finishing somewhere between 5th and 7th, more likely 6th or 7th, and perhaps 8-10 points off 4th. That wont save Sherwood's job. I just hope Levy makes the chance asap once the season finishes so that LVG joins as soon as the World Cup is over

I think it might just be a positive that he is fighting to establish himself as a manger and will fight hard to prove himself. I dont think he is on a hiding to nothing but I do think he will have to do pretty damn well to establish his position.

I dont think anything is too nailed on.....you could bank on City but they look pretty vunerable when Kompany is missing...Arsenal have a horrendous February....Chelsea I really dont know.....
It wasnt so long ago that Arsenal overturned 7 points on us...I think in this crazy league anything is possible. As I said I am curious to see his line-up on Wednesday and how we fare in what is an acid test.....of course I cant give you any faith....but if by chance we achieve something extrodinary at OT dont be suprised if you find yourself softening on Tim.

I think its obvious that Verthonghen has been a big miss...

wouldnt be suprised if Wednesday was a ridiculous scoring game.....3-3 or something like that....I fully expect to see Rooney...I hope he is half fit and detrimental to the first 11 and chances.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Today was controlling the game in the second half. We also controlled the game plenty of other times this season.

But we never had a problem controlling games before avb and we used to score goals at home and win games.

We haven't done what we did today all season really have we?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

We gave the ball away quite a bit in the first half, but that wasn't really a problem given the opposition.

My real concern was no shots on target for the whole first half. Given the opposition and how open they were that's a problem.

2nd half was very good though.

We created at least 2 clear cut chances in the first half but messed up due to poor finishing. The problem wasn't that we didn't create...it was that we missed chances.

We haven't played Stoke's reserves either.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

As we have all season.

It's like you make **** up and run with it no matter what.

If what you're saying is true then why would our previous manager admit that we had an issue creating goalscoring opportunities for our attackers and we need to improve on this and start creating genuine chances further up the field?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Spurs reserves vs Stoke reserves then......with all the injuries we have.....is you total bias against sherwood going to blind you from whats staring you in the face?

A decent peformance from a spurs side with Sherwood at the helm!!!!...

No one is getting carried away or saying he's the best thing since sliced bread!!!!!! but dont you think you are being a trifle harsh???

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I think Soldado has had more good chances to score in the games v Southampton and Stoke than he has had in all the other games this season. We are creating good opportunities inside the box, we weren't doing that consistently under AVB imo.

7 points from 9 so far, let's see where Sherwood takes us. You're only as good as your last game, and his last game was our best performance this season.

you miss AVB dont you?

you can only beat what's in front of you.

If you want to demean an achievement such as getting 3 points and scoring 3 goals whilst keeping the opposition to a low chance creation count then i guess "fill your boots" are in order.

on a side not and not a comment aimed at you , just in general, have to say i like the sudden switch round around here in the way opinions have changed and shifted from one manager's tenure to the next.....

you desperately want him back and sherwood gone is my next question?

touching on this post though....am i right in thinking that you were happy with the amount of chances created under AVB and the quality of them? and that they were at least the same level and amount as we have had in our games under Tim aka NBD?

his honesty is refreshing....makes no lie about his dislike for the current management , his reasons are debatable but i have a few suspicions.

surly as its clear where his points come from its easy to take with a pinch of salt

a tough question would be to ask if he thought today's performance was good or not irrespective of whom we played against and their level

I honestly don't miss AVB. I'm just looking forward to the next manager and enjoying the ride for the meantime.

I think things are very similar now to how they were in the short term. The one major difference being that AVB may (and none of us will know for certain now) have been the extra something that could have taken us ahead of the bigger spenders. Coaches like AVB are the future, one way or another (informed decisions will always best gut feeling over the long term) and we may have got one before the rest of the Premiership.

Under NBD, unless he has some secret system that he pretends is "just run around a bit", we will have to buy better players than the other teams fighting for the top 4 places. Seeing as they all have more money, it's incredibly unlikely.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

it was stoke with lots of players missing, and having accumulated only 5 points on their travels so far.
new years day will show us what Ts and the lads are made up of.
man u will be hungry for points

Not sure that is true

- Spurs sides that finished 4th/5th didn't exactly have a great record at United, so a loss/draw may not say that much
- A win would say something impressive
- A decent performance would also say something
- Another drubbing would be very worrying

cant be sure about the first bit

i definately believe you on the second part of the quote above

i dont believe you on the last bit. Can you name or point to ONE significant good thing you have said about the team or "NBD" since he has taken over? obviously you dont have to but right now your negatives from my perspective outweighs your positives by 100-1

you're right. we wont know....AVB could have a been a decent blagger...or he could have been the real deal. I think once he gets the hang of being a manager of men he may realise his potential. For me though he did nothing to suggest that he was special aside from talk well.

Under NBD, unless he has some secret system that he pretends is "just run around a bit", we will have to buy better players than the other teams fighting for the top 4 places. Seeing as they all have more money, it's incredibly unlikely.

felt exactly the same about AVB funny enough. what a coincidence
