Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Sherwood's interview was good today. Loved this last bit regarding the Giroud comments about Lloris.

Sherwood shrugged off the comments of the Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, who said that he had tried to get the Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, his friend and France team-mate, to join him at the Emirates Stadium. Giroud said that Lloris was up for the switch.

"It doesn't annoy me," Sherwood said. "It would annoy his goalie at Arsenal [Wojciech Szczesny], you would have thought."

Go on Tim stir it up over there :)

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

We only finished 4th because:

City weren't established yet
Chelsea ****ed up

So yes, that's feeding off scraps. Surely even Redknapp's most fervent supporters must realise that we wouldn't have finished 4th if neither of those things had happened.

I'm not defending AVB, I'm stating my concerns about us employing a manager who has a history of lashing out against those more intelligent than him.

They still spent a ****load of money.

Chelsea won the double that season so I'm assuming you mean Liverpool?

If we'd finished 4th last season there is zero chance you would have claimed "we only got 4th cos Arsenal ****ed up", you still bang on about that record points total as if it should be up there with the club's greatest achievements. If we had finished above Man United if would have only been because "United ****ed up" I see the pattern.

I don't get that you don't rate/like the guy but it's starting to look like we could win every game until the end of the season and you'd still be more concerned with how Sherwood performs in his press conferences.

sorry to butt in - If we pipped Arsenal to 4th last season - and Arsenal finished the season with a record points tally for 5th - how could one argue that they had ****ed up or that we were lucky?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

What was the main reason for this, in your view?

Abramovic.

I know what you're trying to suggest though and I do think AVB ****ed up - he ****ed up in believing he'd get support from the owner to do the job he was employed to do.

Pretty much this Jurgen.

Last season the top 4 performed as you'd expect and we performed as you'd expect us to. Hence finishing outside the top 4.

Arsenal are the only ones I wouldn't say would be ****ing up by finishing 5th as they don't have the financial advantage the others do. More than us, but not that much more.

No one could have that's the point but when Redknapp was in charge we finished above Liverpool and Chelsea on different occasions, two sides with more financial muscle and both established "Big 4" sides but oh no we only finished above them because they ****ed up, it's boring. We finished a massive one point behind that hallowed records points total 2 seasons ago but apparently that was an awful season.

So hang on, we finished outside the top 4 and it's par for Spurs but we finish in the top 4, above par in your own words and it's still not good enough?

Trying to compare us to Arsenal is just silly, they are a bigger club than us sadly with more financial clout (they spent £40m on one player) hence their higher wage bill. Why was 2011/12 such a failure if they did what you said and performed how you would expect them to? One rule for Arry and a different one for "superior thinkers" I guess.

but we've already been through why we think the two seasons are entirely different - Scara today and me yesterday (not to mention countless times in the past).

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Basically if you speak 'common', all success is derived from luck. If you wear a nice suit, look the part, that makes you intelligent, without regard to your track record.

Cracked it!

Well all I'll say is it's obvious to me why certain people think they are different.

well that just sums it all up really doesn't it?

kind of begs the question - why do you bother getting involved in the same debates all the time if you aren't actually interested in what these people have to say for themselves? - seeings as you've clearly already decided why they think what they think...

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I like their footy podcast but it has at least two massive Gooners - Amy Laurence and the French bloke. After the 5-2 where Ade got sent off Amy Laurence even said the sending off had no bearing on the game.

Amy Lawrence was on one time after we beat Arsenal, and was practically in tears, bless. Phillipe Auclair is so far up Wenger's starfish, only his shoes are poking out.

So much for journalistic objectivity.

Jimbo is a great host, but none of them have any time for Spurs.

There's a gooner on the ramble podcast but he's kinda funny in that he is (a) a comedian and (b) such a typical arsenal fan as to be almost a parody of a typical arsenal fan.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I can handle Au Clair and most of the time Lawrence, the one on that podcast that really boils my **** is Greg Roughly, he's your stereotypical scouser gloating over everything the dippers do but not enjoying it as a fan of any other club would, no, its like they are ****ing entitled and this is merely football reverting to the way it should be.

I agree about the gooner on the ramble, he is a funny guy and he at least has some self awareness.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

screen nayim/Galeforce, Maybe it's worth starting a podcasts thread in general and take this conversation over there. I'd certainly find it interesting.

Therein lies the rub, AVB didn't do the job he was employed to do, which was get the team winning games and trophies.

If I was set targets by my boss and I failed to achieve them there would be repercussions, it appears BOTH Abramovich and Levy had the same idea, "AVB you've ****ed up so **** off".

That's an interesting spin on things and is a pretty good indicator as to why your views are so skewed.

According to many people involved at Chelsea at the time, AVB's role was to clear out Mourinho's ageing team and replace them with something that could go on to win trophies over the longer term. A team full of ****s decided that they were in charge, not the manager and Abramovic (probably fearing the fan reaction if he ****ed off Terry) decided not to back the guy for the job he employed him to do.
