Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Funnily enough we were discussing true middle class people and their kids today... I'm talking Muswell Hill types...

Their kids look like they've been dressed from second hand shops, they are left to roam (think that family who lost their kids in Portugal), they will allow them to eat mud... they will post pics on FB that the rest of the population will consider perhaps not appropriate, they will give them sh1te names...

I took my daughter to see The Snowman at the Peac0ck Theatre recently and we were in the front seats that were treated to the fake snow (foam) - the parents of these kids allowed them to run to the front and try to catch the foam, some rubbing their heads against the foam on the ground in the aisles...

These people will never talk like Tim haha

Interesting points...perhaps for a deeper discussion in another thread...

I think I recognise the 'type' of parents you mean...do you not think it's just a case of not wanting/willing to be more hands-on with child rearing (perhaps too busy on the old i-Pad?) but not wanting to pay for a full-time nanny? 8-[

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Since when did this thread stop being about a football?? In 24 hours we have gone from talking about the youth setup and Tim Sherwood to a discussion about Tim Sherwoods social graces/ lack of.

Can we not have this debate moved elsewhere so the football fans can just talk about football?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Maybe Pirate thought he was replying to someone else.......ahem

I think Tim has done very well so far but we can obviously say that going out in the domestic cups is disapointing....more so West Ham..

I will put down what I have liked in bullet points.

.Brought Ade back into the fold and is getting a tune out of him
.attended all reserve, youth games....Capoue & Holtby maybe disgruntled but its not as if they are not being given a chance to impress....timmy watches
.Got us scoring goals.......the 4-4-2 may have been tem to lift confidence.....looks like he will change up formations and keep opponents guessing stops us looking predictable
.been honest in his interviews.....when we have played poorly he has said it....not sugar coated it!
.has made intelligent subs at decent times...apart from maybe spam
.has shown faith in youth and Bentaleb looks a prospect
.Arsenal & Swansea play a similar style.....after goon defeat changed it up against Swansea...quick learner from mistakes???
.Has got C Eriksen in a nice niche of form
.hasnt whinged about injuries though he has said we need them back
.hasnt whinged about needing new signings.....has said we have talent already at the club and he wants to work with them
.since he has had time on the training pitch things have been good...we certainly had a plan vs Swansea and executed it well!

The crux for me is can he get peformances from Solly & Lamela, I really think them playing well for us could be massive in our final league position finish.

so far out of 10 I would rate him 8.5......he has got my heart beating...got me loving spurs and looking forward to games.....cant ask for more than that really.....

you?

Hi there Nigey; i think Pirate55 WAS intending that for me...which would have been fine previously, but after my latest post??

Anyway,

I largely agree with your points. I think the Swansea game showed me that he does actually maybe have an eye for varying our tactics and personnel. Axing Soldado after his meh performance against Palace sent a good message i think as well.

I would like him to use Capoue if he can't play Sandro in upcoming games though; he is a quality DM and in any game where we will come up against a 3-man CM and good fluid forwards we need a specialist DM like Capoue (if not Sandro). We would regret not using Capoue more in the long term imo. We certainly could have done with him vs Arsenal but as you say TS seemed to learn from that vs Swansea.

Very good overall from TS so far; I'd also give 8.5 out of 10, but I am wary of how we are set-up for the run-in (and where I fell the likes of Capoue will be crucial imo)

Is this now not a thread better suited for the randomination section of this forum?

Admins are usually extremely keen on making sure the discussions are on topic. In this thread the main discussions have been about the British class divide for the last 70 pages or so.

Let's see how it flows. If the class warriors ;) are still at it over the weekend, I will split the thread and move the non-football stuff to random

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I was asking for opinions on how we are playing under TS and I thought after 6 games would be an interesting time to reflect a little. Plus look a little at where we think we were going.
Where the hell did that response come from ffs

How about let me know what you think so far? Thanks

Your views on TS and snarky questions are more than a little bit coloured by your views on AVB IMO. You aren't really still prepared to give TS a chance to be judged as himself and keep want to hark back to the previous regime in my view. Just give it up and try and give TS a fair chance WITHOUT always looking back.

The past is gone, the future is unknown, the PRESENT is a gift.

Bit of an exaggeration with the 70 pages but I agree in the main......

please would it be possible to discuss social class in random.........not that im forum police but please....this is a thread to asses timmy(FOOTBALL MATTERS)

I dont care what anyone's background is everyone deserves a chance in life......and everyone on here that follows the spurs is a brother to me.....even if there are a few black sheep in the family;)

I don't think that it is your or anyone else's position to tell someone to move on, particularly when some were so bitter throughout the last managers tenure. But I do think that AVB chat is better kept to other threads and this one about Sherwood's strengths and weaknesses.

I think we have some hungry quality players who are fresh at a good time of the season.

few days left of transfers though........hope Capoue doesnt go but we will see....we do need people to fight to be in the shirt and not move on at the first opportunity though!

In regards to playing a DM read the OMT...I will be disapointed if he doesnt play Sandro or Capoue against Emirates Marketing Project....I think reverting back to 4-4-2 for this game would be a mistake. Of course for all I know we will match them up 4-4-2 and win.....

The proof will be in the pudding though......and if we do somehow manage a win..... I look forward to seeing the......'we only beat city because we had 10 days rest and they didnt' posts.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Earning money is not escaping class. As an example, no matter how well they do, they would never be welcome at the RAC.

But anyone can join the RAC for a monthly fee \o/:lol:

I disagree with you. For example, founder of the company I work for comes from a very 'normal' working class background, he now has houses all over the world, is invited to the most prestigious events and is thought of as anything but 'working class' amongst his peers.

We're probably going to go round in circles on this so there's probably not much point in taking it further.

Wouldn't it be great to have to read those posts??
I'd actually be ok with a loss against City provided we are not totally outclassed, show poor effort or tactically naïve (I thought we were the first and third of those when we got caned there in November).
Whilst it might not help our confidence in those 'bigger' games, I'd take a narrow loss if we were to then beat Hull and Everton afterwards. The momentum wouldn't be severely affected imo by a narrow one (or even two) goal loss as City are in ridiculous form right now.

But imagine if we win!! Actually we usually do at home to City, since they were promoted in 2002 our results are:

2002/03: 0-2
2003/04: 1-1
2004/05: 2-1
2005/06: 2-1
2006/07: 2-1
2007/08: 2-1
2008/09: 2-1
2009/10: 3-0
2010/11: 0-0
2011/12: 1-5 :-&
2012/13: 3-1

tickle my balls with a feather once more Nigeman. Sorry bout the earlier confusion, my Internet connection keeps cutting out !

I also largely agree with Steffs answers. Hope the boys can give you a great birthday present!

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I wouldn't know about someone with a geordie accent, I don't know any. I do hear they've improved the area since I last had the misfortune of visiting though, so I assume there must have been some kind of gentrification. I which case I suspect many have dropped or at least softened their accents.

As for Sherwood, I've already mentioned that it's not his accent that bothers me (that was an incorrect assumption from someone else), it's the stupid **** he keeps saying that does.

**** me, are you that desperate in trying to be controversial, pity Adrian Durham does it slightly better eh.

Yep those posts would make me as moist as the:

'We beat southampton reserves...whoopedy do!
'We beat Stoke Reserves....big whoopsy
'we beat man united because they are.....well quite s**t!
'we beat Palace because Puncheon guffed it'
'we beat Swansea reserves.............WOW!

I know what you mean but I will be gutted if we cant beat them....a win keeps all my dreams alive! I am realistic though I know they are s**t hot at the moment! Thanks for reminding me of the 1-5....:( I was there.........dont worry I cant afford to go at the moment:) lets hope that we get another win to that list!

Really hoping that Tim and the players can impress me next Wednesday....but I understand the size of the task!

Have now. I am pleased to see we agree on 8.5 for TS so far. Long may it continue. COYS

Now all we have to do is work on corners ;) anyone see the Arsnl's near post routine against Coventry? Now that really took me back! Come on Tactical Tim, a few well worked goals from corners would be brill. Lets start with one on Wednesday night.

Tell me about it! In fact when was the last manager we had that had good corner routines built into our attacking play??

A long, LONG time ago. Apart from the rare Bale near post flicks, I think the cut backs for Sherringham volleys was the last effective routine I can remember.
