The youth players/on-loan thread 2016-17

I would rather be the team that other teams try to poach coaches from because we have a successful structure than the club that poaches coaches to try to make it work out.

I really don't think Kieran McKenna was necessary for our continued academy success. Staff like him moving on fairly often seems pretty standard to me.

hes done very well. was better in the first half but probably still isnt fully fit. make no mistake we have lost a player

But a player our manager doesn't want for whatever reasons

Personally I'm more disappointed we sold Pritchard as he never got a chance but that's not the case with Nabil... Plants of chances and cpearly something Poch doesn't like

U23s lost 3-1 to Chelsea. The score flattered us if anything as we were 2nd best for much of the game, Harrison got our goal from the spot in the last min after some good play by Edwards who was tugged back when through on goal but other than that we never looked like scoring.

Better off missing the game, total shower of brick.
We were pathetic after Ogilvie was carried off as early as 9th minute, it seemed to knock us for 6.
Glover, Edwards and for a small time Loft can hold their up but the rest were poor. Couldn't pass, track, hold the ball, get in the box or create. The ref as usual at Stamford Bridge gifted them a Pen which turned the game but the lack of fight and heads dropping like lead balloons, were shocking to see. It is harsh but that may be the end of many of those at Spurs, hopefully, just a glitch and Coaches take a more understanding view.

Spurs' UEFA Youth League team v Monaco: Whiteman, Walker-Peters, Hinds, Marsh, Eyoma, Walkes, Edwards, Oakley-Boothe, Griffiths, Harrison, Shashoua.
Half-time: Tottenham 1-2 Monaco.

The u23s took a bit of a pounding tonight losing 6-2 to Liverpool. Edwards the only positive, scoring one and winning a late penalty for Loft to convert.

Guess we won't see Edwards on bench Wed then - next season for him I think
Obviously Poch is never going to guarantee anything but the impression given by the media when he eventually signed his contract extension was something along the lines that he would not have signed without some sort of firm promise of first team involvement this term. Could all be just media hype / guesswork of course.

Any idea of the strength/age of the respective teams? E.g. We're we a lot younger than the oppo?

We were a bit younger:
Liverpool: 17; 20, 18, 23, 17; 19, 23, 20; 19, 17, 16 (av. 19.0)

Tottenham: 18; 19, 18, 18, 18; 19, 18, 18; 20, 19, 17 (av. 18.4)

We also brought on two 16 year-olds at HT and another later on in the game. It's a weak group relative to what we've had in the past 3-4 years, I suspect we'll see a few 1st/2nd year players move up early seeing as the level of quality isn't as high as usual.
