The transfer thread

Seems we're playing the numbers game on finding future strikers - Veliz, Parrott, Lankshear, Scarlett, Etete, Soonsup Bell, Feeney.

Don't blame the club either based on the price of strikers. I know a couple of these have come and gone already, but we have top keep acquiring these young kids and seeing if they make the journey into their 20's. When you look closely, you only really see Scarlett from our own academy. I guess Jaden Williams might be another, but he's 20 now and will no doubt move on soon.

I hope we get Melia. The more the merrier at this age group.

Ajayi is home grown striker, plays wide got good pace and presses well, could be a big year for him.
 
Grandson told me we have signed a 15 year old centreback from Palace after going through all the FA procedures and agreeing compensation payment.

It's a massive amount of money - it's usually a six figure sum at most that the clubs here get paid. I'd imagine the £3m is either exaggerated or primarily performance related.

Paul McGrath, Roy Keane, Seamus Coleman, Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, Matt Doherty and Evan Ferguson all came through the League of Ireland system so you can find some gems but it's rare.

I like Richy as a striker when he is 100% fit
He has been there for us once
He won’t be able to stay fit long enough and he would be better off being a starter somewhere else that suits him
We need reliable bodies

Perhaps if we got a good fee for Richarlison that could then be reinvested. Could make sense. More pressing needs elsewhere, but need two strikers so can't sell Richarlison to buy in a different position anyway.

BOTH solanke and richy are the same age (27) which leaves no room for succession planning too, another indirect reason to sell richy - its better age diversification for the team

I think a good fee is only coming from Saudi, and Richie has no interest in that...so we are at an impasse.

Yeah, but Son is 5 years older. He has Johnson, Yang, Moore, Odobert etc as his diversity

Solanke and Richi have Scarlett, Lanks, Veliz and the other younger strikers as their diversity.

The subtle difference is that Son's successors are active in the first team. It's interest that our number 9's aren't, except for maybe Lanks who has at least played in the EL.
 
I think we should be focusing on players that are ready to improve the first team. We have plenty of youth with Bergvall, Gray, Yang, Vuskovic, Moore etc. I want us to focus on one or two players that can improve us, Whether that is CM, Wide Forward or an upgrade on Udogie, Porro etc.
