The transfer thread

Yeah, good with that. Solanke a year earlier would have probably seen us in CL. So would a fully fit Richi all season.

I guess we should remember where that Kane money went as well. Some of these talents we now watch came from that money e.g. Venom, VDV.
But that work was needed on top of keeping Kane/having his replacement ideally. We had money to spend on top of Kane staying, we were spending fairly well with him at the club

Like Soldado?
Not at all like Soldado.
Gyokeres is scoring a goal a game and played 26 times for Sweden.
Soldado was scoring 1 in 1.71 games when we signed him and had barely broken in to the Spanish national squad (12 games 7 goals).
So again that proves my point that a single point of reference doesn't work.

Yeah, but Kane runs that contract down and we would be £100m behind where we are now. We wouldn't have had Kane and these new players as he would have walked for nothing. We would have only got the salary saving. That's massive when you think about it.

The reality is we went from stadium build into COVID, and the money machine only started working too late for Kane who had hit his thirties. We will spend 5 times as much in 2020-25 as compared to 2015-20. We only spent decent money in 2019 because of CL final monies.

It will be curious how we navigate that same journey with Son. I'd be listening to offers in the summer.

We won't get much for Son because of age and short term contract extension. But we should be looking at replacing him with quality if not on his side (if they think Ode is the man) then on the right where we are now fooked

OK, so 2 more shameless rumours...

1) Richard Rios - 24 year old Colombian midfielder at Palmeiras

2) Wilf Zaha Loan - now 32, owned by Gala, but on loan at at Lyon.

I can't believe the second one.

Lose half our fan base if he goes. Not going to happen.

Yeah, but Kane only had a year left but had the brand. Son will also have a year left in the summer. He will take with him all that South Korean revenue stream so still should command a fee would be my guess.

Not just south korea. I travelled asia ghe beginning of last year. They love him. They buy shirts with his name on and other merch.

Ok maybe he shouldn't be starting every game. But we won't sell him.

I think the South Korean revenue stream is massively over played by many. Anyway we will see

And that could be the right call.

Poor old Sonny hasn't had the luxury of much rest this season. When we get the quality and depth, it could really lengthen his career if he's managed well.

He would need to accept the reduced role as opposed to going to an easier league like Kane has. Harry would have never been happy on the bench.

I doubt we'd get a better loan LB in now than Regulion to be honest. Might as well wait till the summer with that, unless Palace are open to a reasonable deal on Mitchell with 6 months on his contract.
Chilwell is a far better left back than Regulion and apparently he is available for loan so there is one straight away.
I'm not convinced that Mitchell is good enough on the ball for what we need from our full backs though I suppose he would at least be another body.

A possible sensible under the radar type signing for a left back option in our squad could be Robert Skov from Union Berlin. He is a kind of typical left midfield player, which I think would suit our full back play under Ange. He'd probably cost under 10m euros.

What I'm hearing....

Juve paid PSG a £10m loan fee
Muani got a £2m signing on fee from Juve
Juve will pay the £4m in wages

So Juve have just paid £16m for 4 months work. No wonder PSG weren't so worried about the permanent clause.

Muani also only wanted Juve.

I'm glad my club don't get into these types of deals. No doubt we put together a completely different structure of package and it didn't work this time. So we move on.

If we're looking for a right wing forward that can also play as the centre forward in our system then I think we're really going to struggle to find anyone. Personally, in the medium to long term, I think we'd be much better off signing competition for the number 9 role (Delap from Ipswich would be my number one choice by a long way here) and then also signing a new right winger.

Assuming we don't have mega money to spend and still need to strengthen a few areas of the team and squad here are a couple of right wing options that might work....

Johan Bakayoko - 21 year old Belgian winger at PSV, fast, skillful, beats players, creates goals and scores goals. Looks to me as though he'd have no problem handling the physicality of English football. Think he'd cost at least £40m though.

Alternatively a cheaper option would be Edon Zhegrova - a 25 year old Kosovan at Lille, very good at beating players 1 v 1, probably gettable for £20m.

If looking to the championship then the best right winger is probably Wilfried Gnoto at Leeds. Though with Leeds chasing promotion I doubt anything other than an over the top bid would get him.

When I’ve seen Bakayoko he reminds me of Doku… I don’t think that’s a good fit myself
We need a man who will beat players but one who makes smart choices with their passing
He may well be the answer but what little I’ve seen of him I’ve not seen the smart play
I thought we had been linked to zhergrova as that’s how I’d heard of him but I can’t find it

Richard Rios is an interesting one. I think that Flamenco originally spotted at a futsal tournament when he was 18.

The problem with trying to get him now is that Palmeiras have the club World Cup tournament coming up and want to do well in that. Could be one to sign now to bring in this summer.

They probably want to wait until after the world club cup incase he has a good tournament, then get a bigger fee.
