I have said many times that the club needs to believe in the groundplan initiated when Postecoglu was hired. That means Munn/Lange (who I remain unconvinced have true power). If we were to not give Ange reinforcements and up the ante on youth by blooding/forcing more kids to learn fast in the hope it matures them for next season, then Ange should also get next season because clearly, we would be giving up on anything ror this season. If we did take that approach and dismissed him in the summer, that would essentially mean we've hung him out to dry since mid-November.
The next two weeks are going to tell us an awful lot. Not on the pitch, off it.
Munn has seen Ange on a 41 game season and is currently observing him in a 55 game season. He's seen him with a fully fit first team and he's watched him working through 2 injury crises across 2 seasons. He's seen how the team reacts when we're in total ascendency, but he's also seen a lot of hard-to-take losses. He's seen Ange's teams look really good in certain situations but he's also seen it struggle in others.
There is an amazing set of data points forming but not yet quite enough in my opinion.
I think if you're into football, you learn a lot about Ange in any scenario and that is what we're all doing. What I believe is that Levy doesn't have the football smarts to apply the right assessment on Ange as he hasn't got that football DNA in him that you need. He'll never have it. I think what we're all worried about is that either Munn hasn't got that DNA either, or Levy just reverts to type and acts like a prat again. I do think Lange's opinion could be very important.
My own feeling based on everything I've seen so far is that Ange probably isn't the right man for the job long term, but I sort of want the full 2 years worth of data points. He can win me round though. I still have an open mind.
I'm also worried the club will make some stupid squad decisions in January.
